- BtheReaper494 years agoSeasoned Veteran@trip1ex just curious, do they still have early access with the Sept 22nd beta? I thought I saw that it was now open to the public day 1. Is that wrong?
I never or extremely rarely preorder games.
If there is a beta, I will try the game if it's available.
If not, then I will watch reviews on YouTube about the game to see if it's good and if my PC can run it acceptably.
But yeah, I usually never preorder games at full prices especially in these present times...

I have not I was unsure if I could get my hands on either next gen system (I am not a specific fan of PS or Xbox but I do prefer playing on Xbox for my own reasons) this is a game where I think the best experience will be on a next gen system , my experiences with games like Assasins creed Valhalla and unfortunately Cyberpunk playing on an older Xbox one S newer games clearly are not made to be played on older systems and I did not want to attempt this game on my old xbox one S, but also I had pre ordered BFV solely cause I knew at that time that is what I'd play and to get2 or 3 days extra in beta.
I have also preordered another game just for skins before only I rarely found myself using said skins.. So not much use in preordering anymore unless you want early access to beta for 2-3 extra days, I should say I also mostly do digital now I don't play too many other games so it is not going to sell out or something and skins/ extras most likely are not worth anyones hard earned money, cause you might unlock something through playing the game that you will use all the time. As a reference here for anyone I am 41 yrs old, just throwing things out there, also the track record of the company behind putting this game out is a far cry from good, I mean they abandoned BFV early, made a lot of changes to that game based on a minority of people who were "upset" at things.... and reps from EA also made comments to the general public (consumers/ all of us) if you don't like it don't bother crap.
So a rep from EA posts a message on Twitter in a way making fun of their consumers for wanting info on the open beta and other news being making balance changes to the game based on a small group of people who got invited to the closed tech test rather than letting a mass population of players get to try it all out then adjust accordingly if needed. To me it sounds too close to what and how they handled BFV, 60 70 or upwards dollars is quite a lot for just a videogame and your time spent playing it regardless of your age, skins and all that just is not worth extra money, what if it does happen to suck or anyone personally just does not enjoy it, you just blew your money.
On a side note here I got myself a PS5 and still have not preordered it no point and for anyone looking possibly for an xbox series S check out Pennsylvania target or Best Buy stores they are "almost" always in stock .
Take care

I will wait until I can play the open Beta. I'm pretty sure I will buy, but I don't see any reason to give my money to EA 6-8 weeks before I can play the game. Hopefully, I will be playing this game for years - a couple of weeks isn't going to make a difference either way.

I'm still trying to decide if I should buy an Xbox or PlayStation 5 to play BF2042 on. I'll wait for Digital Foundry's performance analysis and see how easy it is to disable crossplay on each system.
Xbox's VRR and 1440p resolution has me jelly though. 🍓🍇🍒

I might have pre-ordered if only DICE hadn’t added those so-called specialists instead of the 4 regular classes.
I think it ruins BF2042 for me unfortunately.
Hopefully BF Portal will be “normal Battlefield”. If so, I will buy the game. But no pre-order, I think. - PacNbowls4 years agoSeasoned Ace@ChugKendall I got me an ultimate edition l

I'm all preordered and I got the gold so I can play early!

Not yet. No incentive for me to do so yet. Portal is fascinating, but still too many details to be ironed out and it is not yet tested in the field so for all we know it may be so riddled with bugs as to make it unusable.
Here we are about 40 days from early release and we've yet to hear much about the series' greatest asset, but also its achilleas heel: vehicles. Given the game's troubled past I personally would have preferred much more open channels of communication as a gesture to rebuild shattered trust. Pandemic + developing across 5 platforms (two of which are new) + Hazard Zone + Portal is a lot of stuff to take on even if they dropped some weight by forgoing SP.
Beta may or may not be an indicator how buggy release will be but it should at least give us some insight on the game mechanics at which point I may decide to pull the trigger.
