Having the same exact hero on both sides of the field is unimaginative

I cannot fathom why EA/DICE thought having the same exact hero with the same exact face and the same exact backstory on both sides was a good idea

Why am I seeing Falck/Boris/Mackay/Irish/Paik/Angel/Sundance/Rao/Casper/Dozer fight Falck/Boris/Mackay/Irish/Paik/Angel/Sundance/Rao/Casper/Dozer?

I understand it's a video game but surely the game should make sense in it's own game environment?

And make no mistake, these "specialists" are gaming heroes. One and only one specific character with a specific personality has exclusive access to their trait.

One could argue that the class system was the same. In bf1/bfv, assault had access to high explosive weapons where other classes did not. The difference being that the appearance of the character played no role in the identification of being Assault. Additionally each Assault unit had options of gadgets to choose from meaning that each Assault unit had the ability to be different from another Assault unit. To put simply there was the option of variation even within classes and even when ignoring the choice of weapons and only including gadget selection

That is not the case with 2042. Falck always has her injected personality and her syringe gun. Casper always has his injected personality and his drone. Mackay always has...you get the point.

In previous games, our player characters were black slates with no personality crammed into them; Meaning that even if I did see the same player model on the other side (which I can't say I ever paid attention to), it didn't matter much at all because their presence in the game ultimately does not matter. They're just a soldier, a tool used by their nation. In 2042,

I am constantly forced to notice that the other team's <insert hero> killed me. This issue is also presented in the end-of-round participation rewards where I am subjected to each heroes awful voice lines and am consistently reminded that those same exact heroes are on my team and also the other team

Ultimately I am saying that being a generic soldier with no personality was better than this annoying flashy cartoon heroes

I could say they were lazy only having 2 different factions in BF3 and three different factions in BF4. Especially since there were many more factions in BF2.

Dont worry a fix is on the way!
The great developers at Dice are hard at work on making new skins for these super heroes. soon you will be able to buy skins and look different from everybody else! that will fix the whole game, you wait and see!

I think it’s fair to be a little upset about not having separate specialists for each faction. But I think using the word lazy is pretty ignorant, and furthermore un constructive. There is a lot of work in making a single specialist beyond the design and function and you are literally suggesting doubling that effort at minimum. Twice as many voice lines and translations, skins, and progression.
On top of that you double the amount of specialists you need to recognize to understand their capability. Which is a core function of having distinct specialists in the first place.

Let’s try this, I think your understanding of the issue and your proposed solution is lazy. Try harder.

You seem have dismissed most of my post by calling the post lazy. I have not proposed a solution. I have noted the specialist system implemented in the game, as it is, is worse than previous iterations of the Battlefield series and have criticized it as such. The game is quite a few steps back to previous games
Yes, if they were to rework the game to make it make sense like previous iterations, it would require more work than they have already put in the game.
Perhaps they should have thought about that before wasting their time on such a system.
The criticism I have put forth is not dismissed by "The devs shouldn't have to work any more on making their game better if it's hard to do"
Don't get hung up on the word 'lazy'. It is lazy in comparison to previous games which is what many people are doing when complaining/criticizing the game. Perhaps this conversation could be avoided if I used the word "unimaginative" or "bad". Either way, previous game iterations did it better

@CantGetRight You did. However I am not talking about factions. I am talking specifically about heroes. The argument isn't whether or not the devs are lazy

Your rebuttle is like if two people committed two different crimes and criminal B said "well what criminal A did was wrong too!".

Well it doesn't matter, Criminal B. We're not talking about Criminal A's actions. We're talking about yours
