And if they're in the next battlefield it will be the first battlefield i wouldn't buy and not only that I'll tell everyone to never buy it @Trokey66Yeah I was against the specialists when they announced them, and still was for the first 20 hours of playtime.
At this point I actually think their abilities/gadgets bring a level of variety to the gameplay that was never there before.
I just wish they would have made them look (and sound) less silly, to give the game a somewhat serious tone.- @Trokey66 The thing I struggle with is running out of ammo for everything. When I am not in a chopper hunting tanks and armor I am doing the same on the ground. There never seems to be places to replenish ammo no matter how clustered together everyone is. I want to just run the ammo box but then I can't carry a Recoiless M5 or C5 to fight vehicles. And when there is a ammo box close by it won't replenish more than 1 rocket it seems like. The most effective way to get what you need is the loadout box. I think there needs to be some sort of adjustment to how effective the ammo box is.
Such is life as lone wolf I guess. I definitely feel like if you got a couple buds to play with there is only a few really effective specialists to even consider running together. Random squadmates tend to be nothing more than mobile respawn points.
I like the flexibility of the specialists but some of the abilities go against what I think BF should allow. Especially when the game was built on good directional sound and using it effectively. I haven't considered anything OP or must have to your point as well. I have always been a lone wolf and been playing the game since BF3 and played all titles up to this one. And I always play as the sportsman using only LMGs. Now I am playing only as Angel coz I can call in vehicles (I love the Ranger it is funny), loadout crates and revive team mates, too and I only use the recoilless rocket. All these are cool in my book and I am happy with them. Like the voice line says. Hell yeah! Angel does it again mwahahah :D
I think the specialist system is great, they bring new things to the fight with their active and passive abilities.
This system gives you freedom of choice to build the class you want, imo it brings more balance to the game because they don't lock away equipment or weapons to a "class"
Most of the players who are complaining need to adapt the new system or got wiped away because any specialist is now even, no matter which Specialist ("Sub Class") is fighting them
As many people here already have written you as a player is responsible for teamplay and it doesn’t matter if there is a class or a specialist.
The optics and voice lines are a thing of personal preferences, for me personally, it is ok
but maybe they putting in that you can turn off the voice lines in the end screen and lets see what they can do with the optics when they put in some skins

- @GRiPSViGiL lack of ammo is not unique to BF2042 unfortunately.
I've nearly T1'd my Ammo Crate by the way..... 😉 Well, if they don’t return to the real Battlefield, then I guess I won’t be buying anymore BF games and never pre-order again.

I get what your saying, and I can see too that the game engine, portal etc has elements of that type of universe thinking.
but they didn’t need to * BF and produce this bstd child 2042 to achieve that.
Sure, a universe implies multiple modes/types of game, but surely you’d approach this by first of all bringing legacy features modes style upto date with a new engine.
This would have helped bring legacy players into the universe , providing a fan base, generating excitement and engagement.
once you’ve established the legacy features in a new world, brought people upto speed with 128 player servers, having established 64 player maps as a staple, you’d then explore bring in new game modes.
With a solid base you could have created new campaigns with different styles and objectives. A real post new world order style game play, all set within the base environment.
essentially The base game should have been legacy and portal should have been a way into all the new content, not the old.
now that would have shown everyone that they meant business.
instead they clearly wanted to have their cake and eat it. They went with a new game mode, half baked on the legacy features, with moronic match making, no server browser and 128 player servers. They clearly wanted to bring in new players over legacy players, (clearly a money issue here), to invigorate the player base, and I don’t blame them, they do have to run a business after all, pay developers etc etc.
But What really gets my goat though is that they consciously marketed BF2042 as a new BF (1/2/3/4/5) and sold us a pile of * on the hopes and dreams that they’d be able to retrospectively win us over. A love letter to battlefield players! That’s a dam lie. As someone put it, this is a dear John letter.
So when you say there’s hope because there is this so called universe, I’m like, we already had the universe!
The whole strategy is quite frankly appalling. And smacks of more hostile takeover than actual passion to create a decent BF universe. Take the brand, fire the staff, ripp off the consumer is what this feels like.
