New Dev team ego is killing the game.

DICE’s self-congratulatory and patronizing attitude is so annoying. They sold us an underdeveloped and overpriced mess of a game and they keep patting themselves on the back for it instead of actually listening to community feedback on the game’s core design flaws.

Eh, I've always got the impression from Dice Sweden that their design and development philosophy was heavily driven by personality and ego. I've been wary of them ever since they closed Trauma Studios right before the launch of BF2.

I just want to play BF3 Conquest on  Portal like I’ve been doing.

Since Portal launched I could hop on BF3 Conquest any time of day or night and via the “BF3 Conquest” placard on the Portal main page. But DICE took down the placard and now it’s very difficult to simply play BF3 conquest.

Why would they do that??? There’s no server browser for Official DICE servers! I tried hosting but matches never get more than 2 or 3 players. Again I could find a BF3 Conquest match at any time when the option to play BF3 Conquest was on the Portal page!  Why would you do this without putting Official BF3 servers up on a server browser?? 

These most recent questionable decisions are only compound previous puzzling decisions(no server browser and no map rotations! for all Official DICE servers).  It’s all so unnecessarily frustrating and just not fun. The systems in place for BF1, BF4 and BFV works! What are you guys doing???

You have perfectly working server browsers and rental server programs in previous BF games to go by. At this very moment I can hop on BF4 or BF1 and find then join a full Conquest match. Can’t say the same about Conquest on the Portal in a game that has only been out the past few weeks.

Great games from a great time. I really enjoyed Tribes 1 and 2.

I don't know if you've seen Tom Henderson's video about DICE Studio losing most of it's Senior team members after BF1. Including general manager Patrick Bach and lead rendering architect for the Frostbite engine, Johan Andersson.

Star Wars Battlefront 2015 showed up the same way. Like they were making an all new IP instead of taking over a long running series. All kinds of goofy stuff that drove fans off long before they put loot boxes into the series.

This is the same thing that happens with many forms of media where they take over a good old brand.

Movies, Series, comics, Tabletop games, video games, etc

Somehow there is that belief that they are so amazing that they can "fix" the legacy of people better than them.

There are very few cases where a great old something was given enough of the reverence it deserves in a modern adaptation.

Yeah someone really needs to step out there and admit the game´s problems like they did with Battlefront 2, take a step back and rethink some core design choises of the game.

But I guess those devs are long gone.

So the original devs are all long gone and the ones that are left are getting pushed around by EA.  Also in the articles it says that the devs were being asked to develop software for consoles which they didn't have, and using their home PCs which may have not been up to the task of developing games like this anyway.  So it doesn't sound like their egos have anything to do with it.  It sounds more like EA set them up for failure.

DICE seems to have lost all autonomy in terms of deciding the direction the game should go in. It all seems to be driven from a very high level at EA based purely on marketing and following trends. And like others have mentioned, it seems to have driven a lot of the talented people away.

You can't completely stifle the creativity of the people who actually know how to make games and expect it to end well.
