You need to reward teamwork more than kills unless it is a TDM. Capping or defending objectives should award you the most XP/pts.
Kills on the objective or when you are on the objective should be more valuable than kills off of it.
Staying near your squad should give you a perk (like quicker heals or resupply). There should only be health regen when you are near a squad member. Otherwise, you need a med pack.
That would help a lot for teamwork. A year later and there is still no platoon support. Not even any mention of it so far. That should tell you everything that you need to know about the current importance of teamwork in this series.
Why are platoons important? Well platoons are made up of the Battlefield players that have chosen to play this series as a team. Currently there is nothing in Battlefield 2042 to motivate players to want to do this, and also nothing that rewards players for performing well as a team.
There is so much that can be done with platoons in Battlefield and also using them as a catalyst to change the overall poor competitive spirit that this series unfortunately has game after game.
How do series such as The Division and Destiny that have not been around as long have better clan/platoon features than Battlefield?
@Valttispipo_OlpaWell I'm glad you said after 2142 and I agree with you.
Some people still think true battlefield is BC2/3 or 4 where the move towards one man armies and the obsession with "battlefield moments" began.
I personally don't really mind but 2042 is a little too over the top with the fast paced, frantic gameplay especially after coming from V which has more in common with the original PC games than any release since then.I personally would vote teamwork shooter.
I would guess more people today want an ego shooter rather than teamwork shooter.
Businesses try to maximize profit, so they generally cater to the largest market segment.
FPS games have always attracted stat *. They pick the easiest method to garner success. In this games Kills and KD ratio are the self esteem tools of the game.
You can always tell a stat * on a message board. They usually whine for EZierMode then what they play, and if you oppose them, they immediately look up your stats, spew some babble about how you suck and therefore you are not allowed to have an opinion.
They are also the people who beg for stats, rankings etc. Theyre the ones who talk crap in chat because their kill count is higher then yours. They dont play to win, they play to Epeen in chat and on the message boards.
sFor BF 2042, youre pretty much talking about pilots. Now I am not saying, if youre a pilot youre a stat *. But you have seen them on the boards whining for it to be EZierMode. You can tell them in game because they are the people who fly out of range, of bounds, or just sit in the spawn area raining down unlimited ammo and tonnage, whining that Lis rockets cooldown of 20 seconds isnt long enough.
Remove the stat board in game altogether. Remove the stats pages in profiles altogether. Until that happens, you will have people using this game for Self Esteem

That would help a lot for teamwork.I agree that these would help. But how about lone-wolfs? Are lone wolves those who don't use microphone or/and is it play style where they play outside of squads and/or objectives doing their own thing? Because players who don't use microphone could still be team players like me. We are hidden in there. I use spotting, pings and command rose to communicate when necessary.

It's awful how much money talks. Maybe teamwork in videogames have become alienated concept. It shows in society too where people are becoming so full of themselves that they have to vent out aggression towards others in unhealthy way. 🤔

@Valttispipo_OlpaOther than the fact that there can be only 4, 2042 is only an 'egoshooter' as you call it because the players play it that way.
All the tools are there for teamwork, you just have to use them for, well, teamwork!
Whilst points may be nice for some, lack of points doesn't discourage me from trying to play in a squad/team orientated way.The sooner people realise that 'teamwork' is more a personal attitude not wholly reliant on 'game mechanics' or reward, the better.
Teamwork shooters are now deemed "Milsims' far too niche for todays playerbase who prefer, cartoonish characters, Live services with Battlepass cosmetics locked behind an online shop! 🤔
Like the SUV market EA/DICE will go where the margin is

EA is not a non profit org, although some people may argue that their product design results in such. Ego games make money. It is the player base that has to change this. If the player base values teamwork more then ego, then the paradigm will shift.
