The graphics in BFV and BF1 look so much better than 2042 imo. I guess this is due to the 2042 maps being bigger. With all Ultra settings on PC some of the BVF and BF1 maps are just stunning and the lighting looks amazing. 2042 looks more cartoon like imo and lacks textures and details on most maps.
@ Yeah, I've had enough too. Reinstalling 4, 1 and V...
I went back to BFV a week before Christmas and haven't regretted it at all, everything about it is just miles better than 2042. Once I get bored of that I'll head back to BF1 as well.
- @RipGroove99 Problem mostly come with lower FPS for some reason visually lower graphics yet running on a 144+ herrz display simply look more silky and has less noise and artefacts ...
Even borderlands 3 for exemple look worst in 60hz maz setting than it does at min med high blend at 130 fps ...
BF2042 does not run super well on many system .. Graphics look more crisp and better in hazardzone than i breaktrough 128 ... but its going to be hard for dice to make it run 100% well ..even SW Battlefront 2 look super nice sometime but there is instance were FPS massively drops and makes graphics look terrible - @RipGroove99 Well if you get so easily bored in 2 weeks youll be on another game mate . Its not the game at this point ..
- @Stew360 Not easily bored with BF at all, I have like 2300+ hours in BFV, those 2 weeks in 2042 was all I needed to realise it's not the game for me, it's too far removed from the BF franchise imo.
@Stew360I'm maxxing out 2042 graphics, all ultra at 3440x1440 100fps minimum on a 100Hz monitor and the graphics still look worse than BF1 and BFV, the details and texture just aren't there on most 2042 maps because it was rushed.
BFV and BF1 look stunning all Ultra 3440x1440
- @RipGroove99 Of course " You do mate " and with what exactly ? I have the best RTX3080 money can buy my frequency goes to over 2090mhz and my card dont even surpass the 60% utilisation and if i run at 4k with Tensor core accelerated DLDLSS i wont get 100 fps so sorry it aint plausible ..
Also Orbital especially with rain effect etc.. look a billion time better than BFV even on medium low setting ... like come on .. - @Stew360 Nah. BF 1 still looks best out of all. The detail in the textures is still amazing.

@Stew360Not at all bothered if you don't believe me but for reference, 3090, 11900k, 32GB of very low latency and fast RAM and m.2 SSD's (about 15500 score in Time Spy). If was at all bothered and even still playing 2042 I'd do a quick video showing my settings and FPS and performance in game but I really have no desire to launch 2042 and I'm not even slightly bothered if people on the internet doubt the performance of my PC. And I'm not surprised you are struggling with a non Ti 3080 tbh. Just to add insult I'm not even using DLSS either, I get more than enough FPS without it.
@Stew360Wasn't the standard 3080 released in like 2020? Obviously it won't be able to max out a big game like 2042 that came out very late 2021. So 'the best 3080 money can buy' as you put it just doesn't have the horsepower to max out 2042 at 4k or 3440x1440 Ultrawide, especially if not paired with a beast of a CPU. Just because you paid a lot of money for it 2 years ago doesn't mean it'll smash all current games at high Res all ultra. 2042 is poorly optimized as well, the only reason my system can handle it is because my CPU and GPU are just powering through the poor optimization.
@Stew360 I bet you weren’t expecting Ripgroove to have them specs eh.
@RipGroove99
My man your 3090 wont change a thing .. MY GPU is not even touching the 60% utilization sometime dropping in the 40% lol .. My friend with the exact same system gets the exact same frame rate as i do .. laos i have spend hours trying to find wich setting impact the CPU load the most and how to optimize the game to its best ..
ALso my card is not any 3080 and its running at 2090Mhz OC and its 1 in 10 000 cards that can even nearly achieve this .. yet my card is unused in BF so yeah .. My bet is you have anything between 60 and 70 fps in 4k in large battles and anywhere between 80 to 90 fps in smaller game modes ..
Yet the experience is much better at higher FPS in 1440p with some tweak in the settings ..To have decent looking graphics with the best performances possible with no stutter as much as possible ... Fluidity always result in a better looking experience and will be more pleasing to the eyes
A 120+ FPS experience on a high refresh rate monitor will look better at mediums 120fps than it does at ultra 60 fps .. thats just a plain facts and anyones having played on high refresh rate monitors knows that ..
BF2042 does not run terribly bad when you know how to make it run well and have decent hardware . but the thing is a game that isnt fluid enough create visual artefact and blur the texture and make everything look badIn most games the difference between a 3090 and a 3080 stock not mine is barely 5 to 10 fps at best .. My card run at 2090Mhz wich most 3080 dont even reach the 1950mhz mark without getting unstable thats said MY card is barely used in BF so yeah
- @Stew360 Well of course you know how my system runs better than I do. I have zero desire to prove anything to you so uh, I'm out of this thread.
- @RipGroove99
Well please if you can post a video of your FPS while playing and setting i would love to look at it thanks ! @RipGroove99

Here i have a video of " your " almost exact system in 4K the difference between a 11900k anb a 10900k is minimal especially in this game
and its running just like i have expected it to
And here is the exact specs you mentioned and run also in the realms of what i have expected from this as well
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXJzv__eRN4@Stew360 Unless I'm missing something both videos are using 11900k
@David6479
Yeah i have mistakenly not posted the one with the 10900k but well it was still very similar lol between 60 to 75 fps at best .. and if using tensor core etc.. it could go to the 75-85 ish but well thatts another story ..
Its exactly as i expected .. the game dosnt run in the High 120 fpps lol thats for sure My 3080 Score the same on many games as many 3090 with 3 to 5 fps difference its insanely minimal yet my card isnt used much in 1440p and is not fully used in 4k but the limiting factor atm is CPU mostly but also there is some backend work to be done ..
I have also noticed that servers performances affect FPS in this game similar to star citizen .. i have had some full 128 players servers that ran into the 120-140 fps 1 day before patch 3.02 when normally i was running around 90fps so there is some odd stuff that make the game less fluid wich affect the visual perception make texture look worst ..
Just watch a 30 fps youtube video on your phone then watch a 60fps cap video and you will see a imediate difference and you will feel as if texture are more crisp in the 60fps video then well while gaming there is even more difference between over 100 fps and 60 fps or belowWas this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpbODop4WhI
@Stew360 I'm no expert and I've been out the custom pc building for a few years but the videos are at different stages of the game being updated and also surly having one system using Windows 11 and the other Windows 10 effects the handling of the CPU allocation.
I know we are talking about the CPU but the GPU Nvidia drivers in one are 472.12 with 511.23 being the most recent, I'm not disagreeing with you or anything just too many variables in the Videos.
- @Stew360 the CPU is the issue in this engine, not the GPU.
I have the 3080FTW3 and 12700KF. 120fps is totally doable @ 1440p.
The real issue with this game is the the frame-pacing above 90hz, not the framerate, per se. - @RipGroove99 I even play with High textures and when I zoom on the ground, some parts of the maps has pixellated textures. XD The whole game looks absolutely terrible. But! For multiplayer this clean look (minus the 20 years old textures) is amazing. Game has amazing visiblity.
- @Jozso987 Oh yeah well technically low res textures and all that is perfect for super competitive type games but the BF franchise was (and has done since it's been around) supposed to lean towards more of a gritty realistic type game, they used to make such a fuss about how detailed their maps were and how amazing they looked back when they launched previous BF titles.
- @David6479
My friend over has a 3090 watercool and a I910900k wich is pretty equivalent to the 11900k and he has between 60 and 80 fps depending on the load 80 being the best in 4k so he play in 1440p with optimised setting and he gets about the same type of FPS as me with a 3080 OC and My friend M4 gets similar fps with only a 2070 super lol so there is that - @afzSnickelfritz
Exactly in 1440p i have no doubt about this in 4k unfortunaly regardless i havnt seen anyones neither with a 3080 or 3080ti or 3090 being able to get much more than a 70ish FPS on average ...
In 1440p me with a 3080 my friend over with a 3090 and M4 with a 2070super we all have very similar FPS wich can be anywhere between 80 Lows and 110 to 130 FPS average it depends a lots but if i am getting 110 in an area we all get around 110 in the same area at the same momment
