Tactical Conquest First Impression
So I try the new Tactical Conquest on last Thursday. From a person who don't mind and kinda like Squad Conquest from Battlefield V I think the mode show some big issues in Battlefield 2042 both in gameplay and other aspects
12M Auto
With the nature of more close quarter and tighter space, it make 12M Auto with drum mag become popular choice and annoying on receiver side. (combine with no weapons lock for each class). The MCS-880 at least got lower rate of fire and pump action nature but 12M Auto with drum just become spamming click till enemy die.
IBA Armor Plate
I'm not a big fan of them in the first place and seeing them become more popular in this mode (since there's no vehicle) is well...you know the rest.
Prox Sensor
Intel is a key here especially in smaller space which also make them perform better. I found it's hard to counter than previous game. In Battlefield 1 you have big flare in the ground. In Battlefield V you got noticable flare and the "You are spotted" UI alert with the ability to shoot at them to counter spotting. In Battlefield 2042, you gotta look at small object with little noise and shoot it or run to and throw it back which usually mean dead for those who try. Basically I want better way to counter and easier way to notice them.
No Minimum Player Requirement
Since the mode got treated like featured mode from Portal, It ironically featured much request persistent server. Good on the paper but I found most people quit after the match rather than waiting for new round. The bigger issue is that there seems to be no minimum player requirement (or it's 2v2). Losing first 100 tickets while being 2v2 and waiting for people to filling in is not a pleasant experience. I think the fun kinda take off when it's around 6v6 but the match is nearing the end at that point.
I usually don't like minimum player requiment when I need to sit and wait on some obscure playlist but no other players want to play with but don't have it in Tactical Conquest really hurt the experience.
The solution that may work is the implementation of AI. I'm not sure but would love to give it a try.
Proper Squad Menu
In the small mode like this, not being able to join or manage squad properly is a big issue. You are missing something like squad spawn and squad revive. Yes you can change the squad (I just found it after 200+ hours lol) but still the absent of proper squad menu like previous titles is really bad.
Vehicles
I wouldn't mind some light transport vehicles (LATV4 Recon and LCAA Hovercraft). This will also help on some maps that I found it too big to travel on foot. Or maybe even a tank. Some of Battlefield V Squad Conquest maps featured it and kinda work ok (but there's other aspect like slower tank, attrition system to name a few too).
Maps
The maps kinda fall too much to linear fashion imo
I think that's all I have right now.
