Urgent Concerns Regarding Cronus Zen and Cheating on EU Servers (PlayStation)

Dear EA Representatives,

I am writing as a dedicated player who has been playing your game for nearly three years. I’d like to express my growing frustration regarding the rampant increase in cheaters, particularly those using the Cronus Zen device.

This device is being widely used, especially on PlayStation servers in Europe, and it is severely damaging the experience for new players. Many newcomers, after being repeatedly killed by cheaters using Cronus Zen, simply give up and quit the game — understandably discouraged by such an unfair environment. This not only harms the current player base but also prevents the growth of a game that already has a limited community.

Despite reporting around 14 players who were clearly using Cronus Zen, all of my reports have been closed without any follow-up or clear action. It makes me wonder — is using Cronus Zen now the only way to compete in this game?

I am more than willing to provide usernames of players using this device on European servers. Some of them are even streaming themselves using Cronus Zen live on popular video platforms, clearly showing how they fire without recoil to gain an unfair advantage and attract followers through cheating.
If you wish, I can also share links to these players and their streams with your team.

Frankly, this situation has made me lose the motivation to play. It’s frustrating to see blatant cheating go unchecked, while legitimate players are pushed away.

Do you have any plans to take serious action against Cronus Zen users? Will there be stronger enforcement going forward?

I also understand a new game is in development. However, many of us fear that this issue will carry over unless there are major improvements to anti-cheat systems.

Lastly, I want to highlight the current state of European servers, especially on PlayStation. During the daytime, it's extremely difficult to find matches — a clear sign of player base decline. Are there any plans to address this?

This game still has great potential, but without action and transparency, it may not survive much longer.

Sincerely,

full sentences isn't a full proof way of knowing they're cheating...i can hook up my spare keyboard to my ps5 & use it for typing so when the typing in PS5 part comes up you can just start typing on my spare keyboard to talk to others quickly..i do this in Overwatch without overwatch providing MnK support, i dont know if you can use a mouse but a keyboard you can defs use so typing a full sentence quickly doesn't 100% mean they are using MnK for actual gameplay

i really hope though that EA & all developers do more to combat Cronus Zen & Ximmers

  • I've also be sus about a couple streamers. Wont name names here in the US but they seem to snap real quick to aim

  • I would like to make a request. I have not received any response from EA Games to the questions I raised. It seems that they are not as sensitive about EA’s restrictions as I am. Therefore, I kindly ask for the closure of the thread I opened in good faith—on a matter that concerns hundreds, if not thousands, of players—with the status marked as unresolved, as no solution has been provided.

Due to the lack of results from the in-game reports I submitted, I had to bring the matter to the forum. However, I haven’t received any response from any official representative here either. I’m not the developer of the game; I’m a player. It is the developer who should be inviting me into the game, not the other way around. What is requested may not be fulfilled, but what is preferred will be chosen.

Despite mentioning that there are players openly using Cronus devices during live broadcasts, I was not even asked who these players were. I leave it to your discretion to interpret what that implies.

The fact that such an issue exists in a game that has been out for years, and yet no action has been taken—or even any attempt made to contact me regarding a possible resolution—clearly demonstrates the level of attention the officials are giving to this matter. Within this context, whether to start or not to start playing the game is entirely up to you.

Thank you. Wishing everyone a good time on the forum.

I personally will no longer participate in any games by Electronic Arts.

Awesome graphic... There is no words more.

Your frustration is well understood; and your explanation very rational.

Be mindful though and resist the urge of "naming & shaming"—which goes against the rules here.

Reporting in-game is all you/we can do...

  • I agree with that message

altough i like this game i can see why new people can be drawn away from it, we all know battlefield is on a rough spot rigth now, please ea do something so new players want to play the game.

It's obvious that Javelin Anti-cheat isn't up to the task. I agree we need a real anti-cheat!

  • The only thing that will stop MnK devices on console is EA implementing MouseTrap into their games.

MouseTrap can also detect Computer Vision AI aimbot cheats! MouseTrap will become necessary in all games moving forward as Computer Vision AI aimbots become more and more popular. They're already currently available and being used in console games.

Something that raises my suspicion is when I see players very active in the in game text chat, producing long sentences in a time that can only be accomplished with a keyboard.

Knowing that MnK are not supported iin BF2042 on PS5, and what kind of a hassle it is to type using the controller, some kind of 3rd party device could be in play. Or they use voice to chat via the controller mic.

  • Some of the users I’ve mentioned are streamers. I’ve stated that I can share their names here if needed. If I receive approval from the EA administrators, I can either post them publicly or send them privately.

How can you tell if someone is using a Cronus device? For example, if a player is using the AK-24 and fires 20 bullets within a second without any recoil, it's a clear indication of Cronus usage. Or, if you're hiding behind a crate or a barricade at long range and still receive 20 AK-24 headshots in a second, I would strongly suggest that this is due to Cronus usage. Such behavior is not possible through normal human input and should be considered suspicious.

Additionally, some streamers tend to use low-recoil weapons such as the PP-29 or K30 to avoid drawing attention to their use of Cronus. While these weapons already have minimal recoil, if you review their gameplay footage at 0.25x speed, you can clearly see that there is absolutely no vertical movement during continuous fire. This kind of unnatural stability cannot be achieved through skill alone. When analyzed in slow motion—from the very first shot to the end of the firing sequence—it becomes apparent that the recoil pattern is being controlled artificially.

Most of these streamers tend to delete their past broadcasts to avoid being exposed. However, I currently have video recordings of these broadcasts saved from when they were publicly available. In some cases, the videos are still live on their channels, making them accessible for review and verification.

EA has the ability to detect such behavior if proper video evidence is submitted. Whether recoil control is the result of player skill or an external script can be distinguished by EA’s internal detection systems. In my opinion, cheating can often be identified visually. That’s what I believe.

As I mentioned in my previous message, I’ve been playing this game for over three years. EA can verify the number of matches I’ve played through my account. I’ve consistently ranked in the top percentile in certain gameplay categories. However, due to the growing prevalence of this kind of cheating, I genuinely no longer feel motivated to continue playing.

I sincerely hope this issue is taken seriously—not just for myself, but for the integrity of the game and its entire player base.

  • I’m on EU PlayStation myself, we might have met, if you play with crossplay off. I recognize the struggle to find matches during daytime. I think it’s inevitable given the game’s lifecycle stage.

Although I sometimes have doubts about certain players I find it hard to tell if it’s caused by use of an input device or if it is just the game’s poor netcode. I sometimes get kills myself that I did not expect to get, so I could understand if being at the receiving end of it it would look suspicious.  So I wonder how you come to the judgement that players clearly are using a Cronus? I get it if they are streaming and it’s clearly visible, but other than that how can you tell? If I know I can be more vigilant as well.
