Can't launch BF2042 from Steam - solution

Hi all,

Seen this problem come up a few times, basically looks like:
- Launch from Steam
- Goes to EA app
- Game splash image with loading bar comes up
- Main game window opens
- Goes to black
- Dies
- You might get a message like "problem on our side" or some sort of guff if you're lucky.

I tried:
- Bios
- Drivers
- Uninstall
- Uninstall and purge everything EA/BF
- EA Anti cheat fix
- Loads of other stuff suggested

It was:
- EA's crappy app

You need to:
- Turn off the overlay.

Yes, the same problem Origin had 10+ years ago still exists. If you've tried everything else or are just trying to solve this for the first time, start here.

    I've turned off Steam overlay as well as EA overlay, stil no luck :(
    Game just crashed at the spash screen and EA app opens up

    EDIT : IT WAS THE OVERLAY, WHY, I NEVER TURNED THAT **bleep** ON
