Random EA Friends not showing

Random EA friends not showing in social tab despite playing in game with them. In match squad and players doesnt show friend icon by their names. Looking up friend in game player search or recent players shows "add friend". They still show on EA app but offline despite being online and they've confirmed to me over discord the EA app has them as not only Online (green dot) but also in game (blue dot). Effecting 4-5 friends as far as I can tell right now and still waiting to see if they can see me as friend in game and social tab to join game/party on.
