Summarize your bug This is not a bug but an inexplicable frame rate. My friend and i both have the same pc except he has a better graphics card (i have a 1660 SUPER and he has a 2070). Both pc's windows are up to date. Both graphic card's drivers are up to date. We both play on MID settings. But i get 95% GPU usage with 80fps and my friend gets 35% GPU usage with barely 50fps. We've tried marking the .EXE file as high priority, playing around with the resolution, changing from a 2k monitor to a 1080p monitor, reinstalling the game, reinstallijg it again but into an SSD. Nothing has worked. Im aware of the fact that my friend is NOT the only one with this issue.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I dont know what causes it but theres plenty of people on your different platforms complaining about bad optimization (even tho they meet pc spec requirements) and providing video evidence.
What happens when the bug occurs? As already explained, my friend's GPU usage will not move from 30-35% therefore providing an abyssmal fps rate.
What should be happening instead? He should be getting 85%-95% GPU usage, like me.

Please fix it. This bug has made me unable to play with any close friends whatsoever

I have the same problem and I have a high end PC with a rx 6700xt card and only get 27 FPS no matter how I setup the settings for graphics/display. So the game is unplayable

Summarize your bug: The game maxes out my CPU which is a Ryzen 2600, goes betwene 80-100%, while my GPU is around 30% usage. This is a major issue affecting a huge amount of users

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Testing the game properly, issue has been happening since BETA. 
What happens when the bug occurs? Frame rate is all over the place, using the internal FPS counter, CPU is rending 30-50fps but gpu is rendering 100fps+

According to my Geforce Experience framerate and utilization monitor I'm getting about 40 FPS with stuttering and random drops with about 50% GPU usage and 50% CPU usage. Doesn't matter whether I'm on low or high, it doesn't matter if I'm playing at 1440p or 4k and it doesn't matter whether I have DLSS on or off. Framerate cannot hit 60 FPS nor stay consistent despite having around 50% of my GPU and CPU untapped by the game. Not sure why it isn't using 100% of one or the other. If it did I'd probably be hitting 60 FPS or above with DLSS on. I'm also running the game off the WD Black 750 NVMe that came with a copy of the game so I shouldn't be limited by read speeds either.

I read online that turning CPU hyperthreading off in the BIOS has worked for some people but I don't feel like I should have to change BIOS settings each time I play just to get a game to work when I'm above the Recommended Specs for the game. It's obviously an issue with the game engine. Game was obviously rushed to release with glaring issues. Glad I got it free with my NVMe or I'd be feeling ripped off right now.

Same for me too! I have a 3070 and an intel i5 10400! I get ~80fps but only using 50% of my gpu and 60-70% of my cpu? this on max settings with ray tracing off

CPU usage 98~100% But GPU usage is 30~40% on EVERY settings

Same for me using a Nvidia 2070 super CPU Ryzen 7 GPU usage is 10-20% and CPU usage is 90%, I get 30fps constantly it's unplayable

I have found a solution to get a more stable fps for Nvidia GPU´s and to crank up the GPU load.
So what i did.


There is an option called Physx settings in the Nvidia control pannel
This one is set to auto or CPU.

I set the Processor for Physx to my GPU this setting was set for my CPU.
And also the other thing i did to crank up my GPU load is by making the Resolution higher through Geforce experience. Ingame i could´t go higher than 1920x1080.
In geforce experience i put the resolution to 2715x1527 DSR. I started up the game and noticed now my GPU load is way higher than normal. It was normally around 40-50 % now it utilizes my GPU up to 90%.


My specs:
i7 7700K @4.8 Ghz
3060ti
16GB ram

Now my framedrops are way less and my average fps is way more stable even in big crowded areas it feels way better.

I hope this helps out some folks

Nice to hear. I also upgraded to the newest nvidia driver and it seems to run smooth on this one as well.

I opened a topic about this.

How i fixed this.

Go to nvidia control panel and go to the Physx settings and set the Physx processor to your GPU instead of auto or CPU. In geforce experience go for a higher resolution in the Bf2042 settings.

This made my game run alot smoother and gave me a higher GPU load and a bit lower CPU load.

Seemed to work at the start.   Unfortunately for me it didn’t last.  Nor did new drivers.
GPU is at 90% in menu,  moment I drop into game it drops down to 6–15% and never goes up.   GPU is literally hanging out

I5 8600. 16 gigs of ram 3070.    

Im not big on knowledge with issues like this, but curious as to why this game is utilizing 100% CPU and my GPU is only 20-25%? My specs are I7-9700KF and Nvidia RTX2070 and Ram is 32gigs. Is this bottlenecking? if so is my system not good enough or is the game not optimized correctly yet? I know I've ran much more demanding games where this has never been the case before. Just worried if I continue to play this game it will overheat my CPU cause the fans are going crazy hard due to the game using it  at such a high percentage. I guess I dont get why some ive read they are 50/50 on cpu and gpu but alot are like me.

yeah same here, cpu at 100% and gpu sits in the corner watching ☹️

My PhysX setting was set on "auto" and it already pointed to my GPU. So this made no difference unfortunately.

What happens when the bug occurs? The menu and title screens are all full of colors, and I get max fps of 27 in meny and ingame, no matter what settings.I cant turn dlss off or on and scaling is set to "on" and greyed out.
What should be happening instead?

I was playing this game fine on Friday and Saturday last week. Now it's unplayable. I have done nothing new on the computer. I altso tried go back to later drivers but that didnt help!

On AMD 3700x CPU and NVIDIA 2080 GPU.

Both CPU and GPU is not being utilized as it should.

CPU was below 40% usage with GPU on below 30%.

However did manage to boost this by changing a setting within the profile.save file . Found under documents/battlefield2042/settings folder and opened with notepad++

By changing GstRender.Dx12Enabled 0 to GstRender.Dx12Enabled 1 my fps went up by 30 in-game without change any ingame display settings.

Also my CPU went up to 60% and GPU to 80%.

Did Dice forget to set this to 1 by default?

While this may boost your utilization of CPU/GPU and fps its not a complete fix tho. This game should use close to 100% on at least one of CPU/GPU (depending on what part is bottlenecking the other) and not leave 20-40% of available resources unused.

in the menu showing my soldier the GPU load goed to 98% when i'm in game the load drops between 50 and 60% and 30 til 45 FPS and lagging CPU is about 70%
