@JudgmentOfHelion, alright. What I was thinking as well, is the following; is it possible that you maybe have Controlled folder access enabled for the BF2042 or Documents folder? This is a security setting of Windows which can also sometimes cause this to happen.
- shortcut problem ? admin acc admin files user acc user files + try origin settings advanced access mode
- @SavedbyPing Same porblem, this * game goes default almost everyday on my pc

Hi @EA_Leeuw,
It's really nice to try to help, and i don't blame you for doing whatever you can to try to help players.
But did those advices ever helped someone ?
Since launch players report this problem, and answers from EA here point everything except the game.... Onedrive, antivirus, etc. etc.
Just look back:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Game-keeps-resetting-all-my-settings/td-p/11026887
Same problem, another comunity manager with same answers.. and it didn't help.
Just search the forum there are other treads about the same problem.
As the bug is random, you may have luck for a few days or weeks... sometimes not.
So i would like to understand why it looks like EA members are distracting us from the bugged game, pointing other sources of problems with BF2042.
I might be wrong but it look quite obvious that the problem comes from the game. And maybe, talking to the devs would be a better way of solving it than creating a diversion on the forum (aka: "this isn't a bug from our game everything is fine").
I really wish i'm wrong, please tell me this worked for someone.

Hey @l_Grand_Vizir_l,
I fully understand the frustration that these issues can cause. And I appreciate your reply.
It is indeed the case that in a lot of situations having a cloud backup software installed, like OneDrive, can cause these kinds of issues. We have seen this in the pas as well quite a lot of times, therefore it is one of the first things we mention. 🙂
Thank you. - sk1lld4 years agoLegend
Didn't last long.
The game just reset everything and is playing the tutorial again "No update or anything just did it". This is a brand-new computer and not the one I originally had the problem on. I'm thinking it's time I retire BF2042, because I can find no fix this random error.
Also present:
Random DirectX crashes.
Persistent data errors "wont launch"
Invisible players.
This game is a mess.

Hey @sk1lld,
It's indeed very unfortunate to hear that your settings keep resetting itself. However, I highly suspect it's something on the PC itself that keeps doing this/doesn't give the game permanent permission to access/write in the Documents folder to save the settings.
One other block I can think about is the following: if you're using Windows Security (Windows Defender), go to Protections History after trying to open the game. In some cases, you can see if Windows was blocking access to a "Protected Folder" every time you tried to open the game. - sk1lld4 years agoLegend

The game seems to think the game has crashed when you close the game and resets.

@sk1lld, I am sorry? So if I understand correctly, you don't want to continue with the troubleshooting steps?
