@Joakim06er, but were you also sure that your public IP changed? @EA_LeeuwI tried downloading NordVPN and when it's enabled and connected, my university internet just keeps kicking me off. So idk if I can try with a VPN.
But using a laptop on my work internet, I can access the game fine. When the laptop is on my school internet, I am unable to connect.Obviously, I'm tryna play on my desktop so I need this to work on the University wifi where I live. My university has their own VPN services that I could inquire about getting access to? I shouldn't have to use a VPN to be able to play.
At this point, unless you have any other solutions, I really need you to help me process a refund of some sort. Steam will not refund due to playtime (24 hours entirely made up of troubleshooting). This has been the most frustrating experience, and while I appreciate your help, we're still yet to find a solution. The support via forum just doesn't work and we really should be connected via phone. The downtime between posts means I've missed multiple weeks of playtime.
The community has already moved forward. I play competitively and I've already missed the initial learning curve of the game. I don't particularly want to play this game anymore and I've never experienced a game issue like this.

@itsYins, while I totally understand your reasoning behind checking for refund possibilities because you are currently unable to play, this shows that it has nothing to do with the game itself, but with the connection you are playing on; your University internet. It seems like your University internet is blocking the services of Battlefield 2042 and therefore you are unable to go online.
I am afraid that we are not able to help with refunds via the forums nor can we help with refunds of games that are bought via 3rd party resellers, like Steam in this case.
I think so cuz i did the same 2 to 3 times since we changed the internet last week and reseted many times after i got the game.
- @EA_Leeuw Thanks for response, I understand. If I'm not able to receive a refund then I'm not gonna give up just yet.
I'm having my university networking staff look into it. Can you please send me a reference sheet of any ports that need to be opened or anything that I can provide to my IT dept that might help them resolve the issue?
You're prompt and helpful so I really do appreciate you, It's just that this type of modality for support can't be the only way. EA really needs phone support. You+Me+Georgetown University IT on a call could probably resolve this in 5 minutes. - EA_Leeuw4 years ago

@itsYins, thank you. 🙂
It would indeed be an option to let the network staff take a look into what is happening when the game tries to connect to the EA servers via your Uni network. A good program for this is Wireshark for example, which allows you to 'trace the paths' of the connections that different programs on your PC try to establish
Unfortunately we do not have a specific reference sheet for port-forwarding for Battlefield 2042. However, there seem to be some '*community made' websites that tell you about potential ports, like https://portforward.com/battlefield-2042/ for example. (*not affiliated with or sponsored by EA.)
There is a full 24/7 Live Support! You can reach them via https://help.ea.com by either phone, chat or email + we have our Social Channels of EA Help via Twitter and Facebook.
@Joakim06er, would you perhaps be able to test it with a VPN to see if a forced IP address change solves the issue and allows you to go online? (As I mentioned before, this is of course usually not one of our recommended steps. However, it should shine a light on the topic.) I have this same error now since yesterday.. anyone have a fix?

@Neebs_ZA So I did some sort of last resort solution because I became desperate since the game still didn't work after it's newest update so I decided to reset my whole computer. And it worked, it seems like since I bought the game on steam(idk if thats the case) the game files didn't work out properly with the other files I had on steam, so when I reset it the game worked perfectly fine(I still have issues with framerates being very low because of low GPU usage). So if you get as desperate as me and decide to reset your whole computer it will most likely work since we have the same error code.
