Try unfriending each other and then refriend.

Still having the same issue

Yh it’s still not working it’s nothing to do with the ea app it’s the game because I can’t even add anyone who isn’t on the same platform as me let alone invite my mate or even see he is online 

Have you double checked that you're running the Series S/X version of the game? It might not be that, but I figured it was worth asking still. It could also be worth quickly checking the privacy and crossplay settings on the console itself just in case.
