Also have experienced this issue. I don't think it's just the tank, but I recall having similar issues with other gadgets like in the campaign (some sort of launcher where you guide the projectile, apologies as I don't recall the name). As for now I have to do macro adjustments in third person and micro adjustments when actually zoomed in with the tank. It is fairly annoying.
Yes, very inconvenient as when changing perspective I find myself loosing my bearings for just a second which is enough to miss a shot on an attacking engineer. I really do hope they revert the changes because I'm borderline considering giving up on the game and moving on with my life. I love tank gameplay that much.
