- There is a directional graphic, but it's a cone, not an arrow. You'll learn to spot it, but you'll also get to a point where you don't need to, when your map knowledge increases. It doesn't take too long.
2. If you want to be a driver or gunner in a tank, if it's the beginning of the game, you can sprint to it and get, but it's RNG where it places you at the start of the game so you might not get it. If you're in game, you can wait in the spawn screen for it to become available in the HQ and spawn in it. If a lot of people are wanting the same thing, it's luck of the draw, you have to be patient to get certain vehicles, especially air vehicles.
3. It's not BS, it works like this.. first, the timer has to count down, it's not instant respawns (in most modes). Then when the timer is done, you can spawn... on your squad, a flag your team captured, spawn beacons and the IFV/transport heli if there are open seats. If the squadmate you're trying to spawn on is in combat, you can't spawn. Wait until their icon is green and you're good to go, and you'll spawn with a few feet of them. If you spawn on a flag, it'll put you near that cap zone, in a random location. Will you sometimes randomly be placed with your **bleep** to an enemy? Yes, for sure, but they do a decent job of mitigating that. If you spawn on the IFV or transport heli, you're in that vehicle. If you are clicking to spawn on someone or something and they get killed, the cursor might jump somewhere else and you might have a hike ahead of you, which is definitely BS.
4. You have to learn how spawns work to make sure you're always close to the action, but not necessarily right in it so you die instantly, or so far away that you're in a running simulator. Try Breakthrough, as it's linear and the HQ moves up as you advance, or are advanced upon. It'll be easier to learn the game with a more straightforward idea of where you are and where the enemy is coming from. It's also a great way to learn the maps extremely well. Then when you move onto conquest, you'll know every nook and cranny of a map.
5. You can totally play domination, TDM, King of the Hill if you don't want to worry about spawning, but you can get that with Breakthrough and Rush as well, with the former giving you some bigger map/warfare experiences.
For a new player, the universal rule applies, stick with your squad, and if your survivability seems low, spawn near masses of blueberries aka teammates. You might luck out and get a few good support players to revive you as you fight. Literally every aspect of this game has somewhat of a learning curve, gunplay, vehicle play, spawning, when to revive, where to place your gadgets. It makes if very satisfying when you master something, and you see it impact a fight or an entire match.

Regarding sticking with the squad. Yeah...problem there is I'm playing alone. Maybe that's the real problem here is that this game isn't geared for the dude playing solo and so my experience will always be sub-optimal therefore not enjoyable and really not worth the cost of admission. I upgraded my hardware to play this game too which is starting to feel like a double whammy. Nobody seems to be talking via game chat so I'm missing a huge part of the overall experience.
Not sure I'll continue at this point as it's a bit like trying to enjoy the symphony without good hearing or an air show being mostly blind.
I appreciate you all giving some pointers and advice...Thanks!
