AloysiusMaximus As an FPS gamer of 30 years now (including PvP, PvPvE, PvE) I couldn't agree more with everything you've said. A pure PvE mode was clearly advertised to us pre-sale, it was in the game once it released, and then they removed it about 2weeks AFTER release and after the refund policy expired for many of us.
Yet no compensation was offered, no specific communication to PvE players has been made about this and they have responded and behaved in a way that says we don't even exist in their minds. Very disrespectful, IMO...and very dishonest and unprofessional.
Many of us have played PvP for years. I myself played it for decades, on and off, and have never liked it as much as playing PvE where you play the same maps as competitive MP but against bots instead of humans. This is alot different than playing a SP campaign, which I can't tolerate as it is boring, hand-holding, story driven cut scene, play it once and throw it away kinda stuff.
PvE matches are short arena style events and provide the same game modes, atmospheric action and maps as competitive MP but they remove much of the frustration and lack of control in setting up a fair match when playing against humans. It allows us to scale the difficulty and even the flow of how a map plays to our own preference, depending on our own mood, or even abilities, from day to day or from match to match.
For most people, who approach a game very casually, PvE is the best way to play. Because when you play against humans all the control is out of your hands and you may be playing with some players who are equal to, less than, or greater than your skill level, your play style, your ability due to age or handicap, your preferences, etc. and that is often a frustrating waste of your play time, especially if that play time is limited or your patience is.
Whether or not you were personally affected by this snafu, and feel that PvP is good enough and worth converting over to is not the point here at all... the point is that an entire game type was promised and delivered to a group of players who purchased solely for that game type and then said game type was removed days/weeks after the release & sale without refunds being offered to that group of players/customers by the publisher or distributors. No communication was made to the players promising either the return of the game type in a timely fashion or proposed and agreed upon compensation in leu of it.
What they did was wrong, period, and they should be held accountable for it...the publisher, the developers and the distributors owe us something for our time, our money and our aggravation.
