Add back suppression from older titles

It is kind of confusing to me when suppression was changed from the something that is actually effective (affecting weapon sway and weapon accuracy) to something that is completely meaningless (prevent only natural health regen).

Adding back the actual suppression effect would do the following:

  • adds meaningful counter to SVK and Snipers in general, thus increasing the skill ceiling for sniping and using SVK
  • address the current player frustration with movement + high ttk weapons with high movement accuracy (slide/slide jumping around corners into machine gun fire and winning)
  • indirect buff to the LMG class that is not increasing movement speed/accuracy or damage.

    For context, I am saying this as someone who is a movement player. Sometime it just feels a gunfight I would have lost 100% in BF4 ended up with me taking 0 damage, hitting all headshot and killing the player laying down suppression in 0.5 secs

  • Eh I think suppression while cool ultimately runs into more headaches. With all the bullets flying even random strays will somewhat unfairly proc it on you. If you die while shooting AT the guy then well now instead of getting outgunned its just RNG ruining the fight or the mechanic didnt work right, and if youre on the receiving end of the gunfire well now you just potentially lose cause of RNG and the fact someone shot first even if you are likely the better shot.

    It just isnt as fun cause it turns tight controls and gunplay into a kind of sloppy drunken barfight between two dudes who never threw a punch in their entire lives imo.

    One of the main problems with Suppression in BF6 is super fast full health regen.  It basically does away with the jeopardy of older games. Suppression is meant to add jeapordy to long range engagements partly by means of health attrition.  If, like in past titles you didn't regen to full health, then the fact you could die to one or two hits at range was enough to 'suppres' players, but now getting hot 3 or even 4 times at range means nowt. BF games have always been a trade off between reality and arcade, so you have the fact a sniper can kill in one shot, but an SMG may take 5. Suppression was in the game as a balance for this, especially at longer ranges. In recent games sniping has been made infinitely easier and they've coupled this with pretty much non existent suppression. By all means have no suppression, but then why should a bullet do less damage at distances or different guns so different damage.

  • I have just started to assume they are unable to add this mechanic back into the game.

    Considering this is the team that breaks more things then they fix in every patch, I'd say it's a likely explanation as well.
