After 25hrs playtime...
A few gripes.
- The dense city maps are good, but they do not feel like Battlefield at all. They feel like CoD. We need larger maps. I know we have OpFirestorm coming, but we need more large maps
- Sliding. This needs it's speed/distance nerfed just a smidge. And removing the ability to jump out of your slide at full speed, which right now gives you a big boost. Jumping from slide should have a huge speed penalty, and not let you jump to max height
- Bunny hopping. This isn't Quake. This isn't CoD. Jumping should have progressively more and more impact on your movement speed and height, getting slower/lower each time. It's ridiculous to get into a CQC gunfight when the perp is jumping around like a jumping bean
- The visibility of the class "perk" system is pretty bad. Is there a specific HUD color setting that allows us to change this? Like when playing support I constantly forget that I have this perk I can press 6 for, and become this healing beacon of sorts. Both color, and an audio queue, would be nice to have once the charge bar is full
- Inability to play with more than 3 friends. This seems like an architecture issue. In pretty much any/all MP games, when you join a server, the server simply changes maps when the round ends. But in BF6, it seems like you get matchmade to a new server, EVERY MAP. So if you joined a group of friends on a server, and you are not in their EA Party, or their BF6 ingame Party (limit of 4 max), then you will NOT follow them after a map change. This is the antithesis of Multiplayer gaming, and the spirit of Battlefield. In all prior BF Games, you would all remain on the same server unless you manually backed out of the menu
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the beta. There are some issues, but there is a solid base to work from. I hope the rest of the features (like portal) are equally flushed out and running well.
