Aim assist and the problems it creates
I’ve gotta say, aim assist in BF6 right now is completely absurd. I just got absolutely deleted from nearly 300 meters away by a controller player using an LMG who didn’t miss a single shot. I checked the replay, and it’s just full auto... perfect laser tracking, no recoil drift, no spread deviation. It’s like watching an aimbot, but totally allowed. (was some 2 viewer twitch "streamer")
There’s a massive accuracy disparity between controller and mouse/keyboard players right now. I’m not talking about small differences in playstyle but more so the system that effectively locks on once a target enters the crosshair. In crossplay lobbies which is enabled by default (so if you turn it off, you’re effectively playing with a tiny portion of the playerbase), controller users are sitting on hit percentages that would’ve been considered blatant cheating a few years ago. Guys have gotta stop this and tune it way down, it should assist, not essentially do your aiming for you and give players next to no recoil.
And the strangest part? You can be out of sight, ducked behind cover, or moving unpredictably, yet you’ll still take hits. It’s like the game is compensating for where you were rather than where you are... phantom shots landing because aim assist is dragging the reticle toward the last known position and then “correcting” it server-side, or at least that’s how it feels. The interpolation difference for controller vs kb/m players is insane.
It feels totally broken, especially when console players are benefiting from this across long range fights where aim assist is supposed to fall off. I get that controller players need help at close range, but whatever’s happening right now goes way beyond that. This isn’t just assisting, it’s doing. Big difference.
I’m actually a decent player, so no, it’s not a skill issue. It’s a widely accepted one and has been for some time that aim assist in FPS games is a joke. It takes away the skill required by compensating it with less recoil, a legal aimbot, and ruins others’ gameplay. You want help against kb/m players? Just turn off crossplay. That should be the fix for this. Let them play against themselves instead of making the majority suffer.
This was something that was supposed to be fixed or “much better,” but it really isn’t. Watching spectator views of console players with aim assist is like watching a cheater with an aimbot. Someone call Clara.
