My Battlefield memory and experience goes back a long time. Here's the deal: "you reap what you sow."
In Battlefield 5, for example, I had no protection against planes (fixed AA guns were a joke) who would highlight me as a Sniper and then drop a freaking bomb on me. I would run back to my favorite spot, and that plane would come again and bomb, say, a tank? NO! He just had to bomb the poor Sniper who got maybe three headshots, maybe five, in an entire game. It got so bad, I would leave the game and join another one, like Aerodrome!
So, yes, I am guilty of being a Sniper, of a kind, because now I am an Engineer, a tank driver, a tank repairer, a Combat Engineer, and with my Anti-Air Tank I now dominate the skies!
The Battlefield folks have now balanced air power. I remember very well in past Battlefield series I was never able to successfully bring down aircraft. It was very, very difficult. And I was merely fodder for aircraft.
So, again, yes, I am a Combat Engineer and I HATE helicopters and jets!
I use three tanks: the main battle tank, the Infantry fighting vehicle, and the anti-air tank. They are awesome. You are correct in that I don't even need to leave a safe spot. Just give me a hill to shoot from and I am the armor-cladded Sniper of your nightmares!
I also destroy other tanks, other vehicles of any kind, and eliminate Infantry with my coaxial light machine gun.
And this, my friend, is now my Battlefield 6 dream come true!
