They could make it so portal verified experiences, if bots are enabled, give xp based on time played with xp progression to both career and hardware xp.
Then also add solo/coop mode with the same time based progression. Then have solo/coop version of challenges/assignments which have higher requirements. Example - Get 10 kills in MP or get 100 kills in Solo/Coop.
