Bad Company to Battlefield 6 feedback summary
Dear Battlefield Developers - thanks for giving me destruction back after basically removing more and more over successive Battlefields since Battlefield Bad Company #1. I've always enjoyed destruction, how it changes the strategy of the game during the match and for learning how to use terrain to your own advantage. I also enjoyed that heavier weapons were required to destroy larger structures rather than just grenades, this also forced strategic planning for obtaining vehicles for breaking through in the correct locations or planes / helicopters to bring down buildings with missiles and crush and entire entrenched force. (updated: 2025-08-19)
- Thank you for bring destruction back. You could allow complete destruction as some maps already show how completely destroyed things can become. Also, complete destruction could also change the battlefield tactics from Assault in city to wanting to change to sniper. In the past a tank could blow-out holes in the ground for your troops to hide in. Leaving destroyed vehicles could be ok as obstacles, however I could see that leading to issues with obstructions. Just tossed some ideas
- Un-locked vs Locked weapons classes. I have noticed some trends recently where un-locked weapons leads to some maps (especially the open one) where everyone is a sniper. It becomes a sniper game ONLY and very boring. I find locked weapons systems seems to reduce this somewhat. You would have to check your statistics and see if this is correct or if I was mistaken. For Example, a support character can provide endless ammo for his own sniper rifle... He does not require support or ammo. He can camp endlessly. He can regen health endlessly.
- Snipers - General. I get that this is the holy grail for some people. I get that this class is hard to balance for game play. But after experiencing the TOTAL boredom of just endless sniping on particular maps where no other class can crawl anywhere and the sniper never seems to run out of ammo although no one is around to resupply him... seems tedious... I think you should look at this seriously.
- Snipers-glint is an attempt to balance this for better or for worse. They want to avoid full-on sniper games like mentioned above. I think this needs to be looked at in combination with locked/open weapons systems, how limited the sniper ammo is, how Health Regeneration is handled and spotting. The sniper lens glare made it pretty obvious that for some maps there were just too many snipers and made it less fun to play. Maybe lower the lens glare for Snipers but add a bit for other classes? I'm not sure what to do here. Maybe when you get killed by a sniper have the auto spot show a special S symbol that stays for 2 minutes? Maybe more destruction so if I hit beside them shrapnel from the rocks does damage plus the explosive? Not being to identify the general location of a sniper is hell - especially if the game has too many of them. MAYBE allow NO LENS glare for the first shot and then HAVE LENS glare show if they fire within 3 minutes of the last shot or something like that. Health Regeneration is a balancing tool for this class too. Allowing a Sniper to stay hidden forever without lens glare, has endless ammo because of un-locked weapons classes and endless ammo re-supply (never mind that maybe only another sniper can kill him) - I think you see the point. Maybe have lens flare intensity adjusted by distance? Maybe 1st shot no glare (so you can spot until you shoot without glare) and glare after you shoot with intensity of glare modified based on distance with a cooldown for 3 minutes before you can hide the glare again? I'm not sure what is best here - just wanted to toss a few ideas that maybe helpful without much code change.
- Support Issues: To Many Support? Full-Revive gives full health? Sniper or other class the health regenerates to quickly resulting in COD style meat grinder instead of some strategy? In general the whole health regeneration needs to be revisited maybe?
- HEALTH Regeneration: I've had a lot of fun on portal games where there is NO health regeneration and the support guys are the only ones who can restore your health to 100% (or a gadget like the stim pen restores the health). This makes sure you can't have players live endlessly (Like snipers hiding in the rocks unseen allowing them to endlessly heal up completely due to health regen) Everyone gets to die unless you work as a team and/or squad. Maybe a much slower health regen speed? I think 100% health upon revive is a bit much, maybe 50% instead requiring your support guys to toss you a med pack, pen or syringe to get to 100% after you get revived...
- Tracer Gun: I could not get the tracer dart gun working the way I wanted in BF2042 or BF6. I had wanted to mark a rock a sniper was hiding behind so and engineer could use the RPG, Recoilless or Javelin on him. Nothing tracked it in that manner. Sure when I put it on a tank for the javelin or on a helicopter for the Missle. BUT the RPG and the recoilless do NOT work and do not auto-track the marked target whatever it is. There are videos showing this works from different battlefields. I tried this just last week in BOTH games with same results. Not working currently. (I had really wanted to tag the player directly and blow his butt in the sky while he was running..) Or maybe I just misunderstand this whole setup - which is possible.
- MODES: Satisfied - but - Please don't forget the Squad Deathmatch (Even if it's for Portal only). Team deathmatch is nice, but SQUAD DEATHMATCH can help newbies or teams of newbies take on a seasoned player and change difficulty levels and allow for teams based games. Please have smaller maps Like BFBC2 for squad death match available. CONQUEST for real games and portal games with small number of players like 8 per side would be nice. So again some smaller maps. YES I like the bigger maps for 32 player per side, but it's nice to play in smaller groups with friends. BF2042 conquest maps for lower player numbers were too big. Using Portal Editor was fun and most maps worked for most modes (except low number of player conquest as mentioned above)
- MAPS: Satisfied; I'm sure the release maps will be different than the beta. New maps will be released like in other games. I'm sure you can throw a lot of old maps at us if we are short. Please remember to have different sized maps for 8v8, 16v16, 32v32. Don't be afraid to throw a beta map in where everything can be destroyed and see if it's popular... maybe limit player count to 16v16 so it lasts longer. BF2042 the android mayhem event was fun. In general there are maps I prefer and those I do not. It just means I have to get better and learning how to play those maps. NOT every map can be good for Snipers. Not every map can be good for assault. You have to be adaptable.
- NEWBIES: I am thinking you want new players, not just seasoned players? Maybe have a game mode for them where players over a certain level can't play. Or allow health regen for players up to a certain level and then it stops. Maybe allow newbies only to see sniper glare so they don't instantly die. Or allow maybe the miracle 1% health survival until a certain level. Maybe allow players who has less than combined battlefield hours of xx get a welcome pack 1x thermal scope, 1x sniper scope, Advanced health regeneration for xx hours of game play plus some other goodies (Like a really 1x assault rifle that has all the perks including handling, recoil suppression, etc for the first 5 levels and then it expires with a guided mode for a real in game so they thirst for the advancement and can see how much a difference it makes..... Let's not forget the newbies... Maybe find someone who has never played this game and ask them what they think without helping them. BEST FEEDBACK EVER. I do it for work - sometimes there are REAL gold nuggets to be found from newbie feedback.
- Weapons: I enjoy a more realistic feel and not an arcade like reload and handling. Satisfied so far
- Game Play: Satisfied. There are some bugs and hit box issues as well as damage ratios, but I'm sure these are being worked on. Sniper-OneShot-BodyShot-Kill. That's ok, 50calibre will rip a hole in the chest and kill you... don't know what the gripes are about here. In general it's good and solid.
- System requirements: Please keep these low and the game optimized. This will help you reach the most players. I have several friends who play with windows 10 and no secure boot battlefield 2042 (which surprised me - as I thought this was enforced) they have 4 core x 4 Ghz with hyper threading (RTX2060's or a GTX1650) and 16GB RAM and it plays flawlessly at around 60fps at with most settings set high or ultra for textures and environment (Most anti-alias settings set low or off - allowing DLSS to handle it all at 'quality') and DLSS low latency ON at 1080p (I was so surprised how much better it looked and played than other settings). My setup included 6 cores @ 3.3Ghz and a RTX2060 with the above setting and it played very smooth the entire time for Battlefield 6 and BF2042 (probably between 50-60 fps). I would love lets say an official Steam OS / Proton version or Steam Handle Held of this game to replace windows.... however I know I'm kinda dreaming for this... (Secure Boot above - AND NO WE ARE NOT CHEATING) - we play mostly portal because of the cheaters (So tired of respawn and die instantly), passworded games are a godsend. Maybe allow portal play for none-secure boot players, but lock them out of other modes? Just a thought.
- FPS: I'm going to make a comment here. You want to reach as many players as possible right? You want the newbies right? Most game consoles run 60Hz (or 30Hz) for a reason. Every monitor or TV on the market runs 60Hz. (or 50Hz in Europe) I find that games are more enjoyable if the frame rates are more consistent and not too low. For example anywhere between 30-60Hz will be acceptable for budget players with lows around 24fps (Cinematic Standard). An average of 50 fps is perfectly acceptable for a budget player. I have gamed for years at 50fps to keep my gaming card cooler and run smoother for an almost consistent fps of between 45-55 fps. I think many consoles opt for this thinking - smoother consistent game play is more important than higher fps. If everyone runs the same fps then everyone is on the same playing field making it fairer. Eliminates the better hardware wins the games (Pay to win mentality) . Don't get me wrong 75Hz, 120Hz, 160Hz do look better and smoother, but you need to invest in more than just the graphics card to get there (i.e. CPU + GPU + Monitor = NOT most budget players or casual players). You can look at my game hours - I've player ALOT of different battlefields on PS2, PS3, PS4, PC, XBOX, 360 and XBOX-S.. and I had fun at 60Hz, with 50fps on a TV or old monitor and had money left-over to buy the game for $60.00 and the content that came after.
