Battlefield 2 remastered and Battlefield 2142 remastered please ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Some of my long-time Battlefield friends tried the free trial, and they all agreed with me that Battlefield 6 feels disappointing and not enjoyable. The extremely fast-paced gameplay and the small, poorly designed maps make the game almost unplayable. Unfortunately, it seems that future Battlefield titles may no longer meet the expectations of the community. Battlefield is becoming a franchise that is setting itself up for failure, similar to what happened with Call of Duty.

We, as dedicated fans, have one major request for the DICE and EA Games teams:
Please create remastered versions of Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142. These games could be beautifully modernized without changing their core gameplay, and with proper improvements and full crossplay support for both console and PC players, they could become incredible experiences once again.

I read comments on every platform, and itโ€™s clear that Battlefield fans are not happy. As a loyal Battlefield fan myself, I kindly ask you to consider remastering Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142. Iโ€™m certain that the entire community would support this decision and gladly purchase the games.

  • Battlefield is becoming a franchise that is setting itself up for failure, similar to what happened with Call of Duty.

Call of Duty has been an enormously successful franchise that's been outputting a game every year for almost 2 decades now? Despite all of the complaints and negative reviews, it didn't really see a major decline in sales until Black Ops 7. There's certainly a significant decline in the franchise reputation, but having 1 game fail isn't exactly enough for the entire franchise to fail. Black Ops 7 is essentially the Battlefield 2042 of Activision Blizzard. Battlefield 6 clearly didn't suffer much from the reputation damage that Battlefield 2042 caused. So, there's no reason to think that Call of Duty can't redeem itself as long as they ensure the next game addresses the major complaints of the community.

I read comments on every platform, and itโ€™s clear that Battlefield fans are not happy.

People that are happy tend to play the game. People that are not happy tend to go on social media to complain. It's certainly important to take anecdotal evidence seriously, but it isn't necessarily indicative of the actual reception of the game. Especially given that most complaints that people have, are actually quite fixable within support lifecycle of this game.

These games could be beautifully modernized without changing their core gameplay,

As much as I enjoyed these games at the time, I don't need to take off my nostalgia glasses to see that they have aged quite a bit. If they were remastered without significant changes to the core gameplay, I wouldn't be nearly as interested in playing them, than if they were properly modernized. Battlefield 6 is in many ways a much better game than Battlefield 2, even if there are some aspects that Battlefield 2 did better.

The reason I really want to see a sequel and not a remaster to 2142 is because the futuristic theme holds a ton of potential and allows the developers to go wild in terms of creativity. Having a massive scale combined arms fight with walkers and hover tanks roaming across the Battlefield seems awesome.

  • I agree except instead of 2142 they need to remaster Battlefield: Vietnam (the original one not the poor excuse of a remake in the Bad Company game)

I really want the next Battlefield game should be 2143 and it can be perfect with detailed story mod.  There shouldnโ€™t be a weak story like in Battlefield 6. The new battlefield 2143 game should have an impactful and memorable narrative like Battlefield 1. Also, the gameplay doesnโ€™t need to be extremely fast; on the contrary, it should be more realistic and more tactical. I also think the maps should be large and expansive, rather than small and cramped, allowing for large-scale battles.

I doubt EA is going to go for much slower gameplay. If you look at the games that draw the broadest audience, it's not going to be games like ARMA, Squad or Hell Let Loose.

Those are all very high quality games that have everything that people want from Battlefield in terms of slower "tactical" gameplay and bigger maps. Yet the weirdest thing is that people complain a lot here, but they don't actually go and play those games instead.

You'd expect Portal to be filled with Hardcore experiences, but that's simply not the case.

I'm all for a good story and bigger maps though.

The current version of Battlefield 6 is lost. What we need is the series' combat soul, which was based on the excellently designed maps from previous installments like Battlefield 3, 4, and Bad Company 2.

Reproducing them entirely in the current game engine is the only thing that will attract players. Having played on maps like Operation Mรฉtro or Operation Locker, no one would ever create PORTAL farms for experience gains โ€“ here, having fun with players would be the real priority.

The maps in the current title are a complete mess, fit for Call of Duty, not Battlefield.

  • I loved 2142 and played it a ton! I would only play a remaster if they fixed some of the issues that plagued the original. A sequel would be even better. Bigger/better mechs and hover tanks!
