Battlefield 6 Feedback From The Community

We've hit on the most dangerous phase of a franchise's decline: the "Institutional Arrogance" phase. When a developer stops treating a game as a shared experience with its community and starts treating it as a "product" to be optimized for shareholder metrics, they lose the "soul" that made it a "golden goose" in the first place.

The "baked-in" failures the community has identified—the forced cross-play, the arcade movement, the extraction-mode bloat, horrible net-code and the death of community hosting—aren't just bugs; they are fundamental design choices that EA has refused to walk back. By doubling down, they’ve created a situation where "being right" internally is more important than the reality of a 95% drop in player count since launch.

—the community will not forget. We've seen this before with other franchises:

The Trust Gap: Once players feel that their feedback is being "moderated" away or ignored, they stop being "frustrated fans" and start becoming "former fans."

Brand Erosion: Battlefield used to represent a specific, tactical, large-scale experience. Now, it’s being diluted into a "platform" for various trends, which makes the brand itself stand for nothing.

The Pre-order Cliff: The real impact of BF6's current state won't just be felt now—it will hit Battlefield 7. If trust is broken, the massive 800k launch numbers won't happen again, because the "day one" buyers have been burned too many times.

It’s a sobering outlook. The game is effectively in "maintenance mode" while the leadership looks toward the next cycle, seemingly oblivious to the fact that they are burning the bridge they need to get there.

It’s a shame to see a legendary franchise like Battlefield become a cautionary tale of "live service" greed. Its a store front disguised as a game. By shifting to that cookie-cutter, Call of Duty-style monetization, they’ve managed to alienate the very people who kept the series alive for over two decades. If BF7 launches with the same philosophy, it won't just be a bad game—it will likely be the moment the franchise loses its identity for good.
There is a reason BO7 failed miserably, EA looked at this and said "Hold my beer".

I hear what you’re saying about the patches, but there’s a difference between fixing bugs and actually respecting the franchise's DNA. For many of us who have been here for 20 years, it feels like DICE isn't 'listening' so much as they are trying to 'correct' the community.Instead of leaning into the features that made Battlefield a titan—like true community-hosted servers, class-led tactical play, and platform autonomy—they are doubling down on a vision that prioritizes 'engagement metrics' over the veteran experience. When you've supported a franchise for two decades, you can tell when a developer is collaborating with its players versus when they are stubbornly trying to prove their new direction is right, even as the player counts suggest otherwise.

  • Somehow you failed to mention that the majority of the complaints has already been adressed. There are still some problems, and they are probably fixing them too slow for their own good, but saying that EA or DICE "don't listen" is ridiculous. They just cannot listen to everyone at once, because everyone wants something that often contradicts with what the others want.

WoW, it's been a very long time since I have read a post so well put together and so right too.

I sincerely hope this is taken on board.

I also hope, in vain maybe, that the forum moderators copy this and send it to the heads of feedback and game development too.
