Bring Back Key Legacy Systems
Battlefield 6 has a great foundation. it captures the scope, realism, and intensity that define Battlefield. I feel a number of vehicle systems that defined the "golden era" of Battlefield (BF3 / BF4) are missing, and their absence is felt by long-time players.
In my opinion these are not minor details - they were core elements that created skill depth, teamwork, and the unmistakable Battlefield identity. Their return would significantly enhance gameplay. These mechanics created depth, player investment, and a unique sandbox that made Battlefield 3 and 4 stand apart from others.
This is only a short list of the features that I have immediately noticed missing compared to earlier titles:
- TV-Guided Missiles - A fan favorite system that rewarded skill, coordination, and spatial awareness between pilot and gunner. Its return would instantly restore a defining feature of Battlefield helicopter play.
- Thermal Optics for Helicopter Gunners - Vital for identifying and tracking threats in dense or low-visibility environments, and a major quality-of-life feature for teamwork - especially if hardcore is every brought back to the main set of game modes but thats another topic in its own.
- ECM Jammers (Heli & Jet) - A key part of the vehicle countermeasure ecosystem, offering more tactical choice than simple flare timing.
- Heat-Seeker/Active/Passive Radar Missiles (for Jets) - These systems made air combat feel strategic rather than reaction-based.
Is there an official developer roadmap or dev log for future updates? Clear communication about what's being worked on - especially for missing or legacy systems - would be great.
Adding back some of these proven systems would push it from "great" to "definitive". A true successor to the Battlefield legacy.
Others, please feel free to add to my list here of missing items that should be added back from older battlefield games.
