Well technically you’re wrong and right. “infantry fighting vehicle” doesn’t mean they’re for fighting infantry. It’s a vehicle platform designed for the infantry to fight from (11M, mechanized infantryman) . Ex: an infantryman cannot destroy a tank without having to lug around a javelin tube. So, that’s the purpose of the Bradley, to carry infantrymen to the battle and then support them with the mounted weapon systems.
but as of right now the Bradley fighting vehicle does not have a IR guided missile mounting option. Only the TOW, that’s why the tow launcher raises when using “light missiles”. That being said, TOW stands for Tube-Launched, Optically sighted, Wire guided missile (manual ATGM). But the Bradley also has a track feature in the M2/M3 so theoretically you paint the target yourself by putting a little box on it and then the gunner hand station will follow said box when firing any munitions.
So in conclusion, the Bradley is actually Nerfed compared to the real life vehicle. Because you cannot auto guide all the munitions onto any vehicle, only the the ATGM missiles.
hope this helps you cope for the skill issue.
Well written and informative, but there is always a break between reality and a game.
What i'm trying to allude to is that it's not a good design to treat one class of vehicles to "real world firepower", but then neglect others.
In real life if i shoot an IFV with a single javelin there's a fair chance that horrible thing is going to go pop. In this game though it takes at least a couple (if you manage to kill that irritating mechanic sat behind it fixing her up on the fly in the heat of battle using nothing but a blowtorch (what a legend). Oh and the IFV is most likely sat in his spawn spot too, with an mysterious invisible boundary somehow making all enemy soldiers who cross that boarder flee in terror for their lives. So the chances are that he won't be needing to miraculously survive those 5 javelin strikes, as his enemies likely won't be able to even shoot at him.
The point i'm trying to make is:- Having a one-shot, unavoidable, "track you til the end of the earth" missile that will take out a helicopter within 2 seconds from lift off by a vehicle camping in the other end of the map probably isn't a smart idea when it comes to balance.
I mean... I will admit to being old decrepit and generally terrible at the game, but I am not going to be relying on broken balance and bugs to get my kills if i can help it.
