Can we get a compromise on the Bot XP issue?

XP farm Servers are currently a problem in portal that is undeniable but reducing the XP from killing bots didn't solve the issue and made it even somewhat worse. These servers are getting out of hand and it makes no one happy.

People complain about flushing the leaderboards with fake stats from bot servers.
Isn't it possible to separate the stats from killing bots from the regular multiplayer?
Isn't it possible to being able to level your weapons with killing bots for those who need it?
And for portal's sake, can we get an option to play bot experiences/servers (local?) without disturbing the other half of the community who wish to play/host multiplayer experiences?

There has to be a way to make bots viable for backfill and yet not abusable for unfair advantages.
I wouldn't count weapon progression as an unfair advantage because you can get the same progress through regular gameplay. Maybe slower or less efficient, but is it really much of a difference compared to a shortcut package or something like that? Because you wouldn't flame someone who bought a package, at least not like that.

Now that we know that the 11 XP for a bot kill nerf didn't change a thing in terms of server capacity issues, is there really a point to not increasing it back to a somewhat fair amount for people who play official/verified experiences against bots (that don't include scripts or abusive settings)?
The XP farm servers are getting more and more aggressive to compensate for the nerf, and it's not helpful to let it escalate like that.

Please write your insights below but consider that answers like "bots shouldn't give XP" or "it's unfair" aren't helpful in search of a compromise. We won't get far if we don't take a step towards one another.

  • I'd compromise on bots not counting to stats, rank and challenges but keep it for attachment unlocks.

I agree with you on the above. Just spent the last 2 days spamming host for 3 hrs to try and host my own created experience to chill with some friends (Standard EA Vanilla modes with a few bots, no scripts or other shenanigans ) - 'Global Game Quota Exceeded' or aka we raked in a few hundred million $ and we're too tight to turn on some more servers 🤬.

Unfortunately i don't have the time or inclination to go through this process daily in the vain hope of playing. I'm not willing to play normal multiplayer vs lvl 70+ sweaty no lifers. I've just looked and there are at least ten servers hosting the same experience with one idiot on each server playing by themselves and with themselves 😜 and loads of servers sitting there with no players??

Something has to give as the situation has not gotten any better over the last fews days. You are not telling me they had no contingency for launch with some spare servers waiting in the wings to fire up if it started hitting the fan with ques, etc. This just boils down to pure greed and penny pinching and i'm fuming. A few more days and no change i'm off to spend my time on something else that actually works. PS. Don't count on me coming back for BS7, you caught me on 2042 and now this - not again sorry ....

  • I think it should be changed but I don't think the developers should completely nerfed it down to 0 exp and progression, at least make it count for assignments because some assignments are really annoying which can not be completed in most of the game. I had my defil in my hand for a whole 30 min Breakthrough game and eventually I only revived 74 persons. I just felt frustrated LOL. While nerfing the bots, they should redesign some of the requirement.

Agreed, the current situation isn't enjoyable at all. Maybe they should disable progression on custom servers entirely and make the guidelines/rules to verified experiences/servers harder so that you can't mess with the settings that much.
That should flush out most of the bot servers since they have some heavy settings or scripts or what ever, which makes the farming more efficient. Maybe, bot servers should only be allowed with the official settings like a regular multiplayer match (with the only difference being the bots instead of players).
I also get that it's highly unlikely that they didn't consider the fact that their player base would increase with the launch, and that they should have adapted to that. I just hope that they change something about this entire situation because it can't stay like that.

I think everyone has a different priority on what you want to achieve in a bot match. I think completing assignments is something that should be a multiplayer thing, like R1ckyDaMan19 said. These challenges/assignments are something that show your skill or dedication to the game and shouldn't be easily obtainable through bot servers.
But I also heard many people complain about the challenges and how hard or impossible they are, but that is somewhat the point of a challenge and I think redesigning them if needed is a topic for a different discussion.
