Consistently Unbalanced Matchmaking

The last hand full of times I got on BF6 it wasn't even fun in the least. I don't understand why there is a consistent skill gap between my team and the opposing team. Almost every match is just my team getting completely rolled over until they start rage quitting in mass. I've been playing less often with increasingly long durations in between because of this, and am now at the point where I feel like I should just uninstall. I'm hesitant to do so because of the time invested, and the hundreds of dollars I've spent between the store and Phantom upgrade. Not to mention the initial game purchase. And no, I don't expect anyone to let me win or expect to win every match. I wouldn't care if I lost 100 matches in a row if they were good battles, but they're not. There's a difference between a battle and a slaughter. Why is it so consistently unbalanced? I know I'm not the only one to have noticed or have this kind of experence. If you can't balance it, at least make it random. It shouldn't feel like I'm on a team of special needs kids fighting trained soldiers.

  • That's Battlefield for ya. Always have been. And I don't believe there's any "fix" for this. Player level matters little now, just as KD stats and all that stuff. Probably the only parameter that can evaluate the player more or less well is points-per-minute. But then again, someone who's aggressively camping at spawn with the tank and farms kills can have high PPM statistics but be harmful for his team. So it's always random, actually.

Game after game in Conquest, our team takes 5 or 6 objectives and holds them for 30 seconds, then the other team from hell kills everyone on our team, takes back the objectives and overwhelmingly wins the game.  There is not any possibility that this has any play balancing in the teams.  The odds of this happening in this frequency are astronomical.

I do not mind an unbalanced game, it just happens.  But it does not make any sense that it happens with the frequency that I have experienced lately.  I have played everything from BF2 forward, for at least 500 hours per game.  What I am seeing now is beyond probability.

  • I am lead to believe only a small amount of matchmaking is sbmm when your in a game otherwise its bums on seats so to speak

  • One factor that is seldom mentioned:

    — there is a difference between a team of lone wolves and a team that plays as well-coordinated squads.

Very often (nearly always?) in my experience a one-sided match revolves around being in a team where each of us does their own thing (running around like diseased cows) or being in one where we defend or strike together one place and each according to its class. The differences in outcome are decisive.

To bear in mind before entertaining any alleged DICE shenanigans or wrong-doing (or no-doing).

I get that peoples playstyles are a factor reguardless of stat based matchmaking, but hat still doesn't explain why I consistently get put on a team of bullet fodder.

I feel ya, I don't get it. It's completely one sided almost every match, and its always in favor of the opposing side.

  • This is true, cohesive squads are far more effective than solos. But I still don't understand why there are never any on the team I'm on.

I think I understand what is happening now.  The game opens with bots that are replaced by players as the game progresses.  Not being able to identify whether or not bots are in my squad is disconcerting.  I have spawned into total bot matches and as long as you squad manage them, they are pretty good at taking objectives.

Very few players seem to follow the path to the selected objective and squad leaders fail to set objectives. That leaves the bots going to the game selected objective.  If that objective is defended by players, they can slaughter wave after wave of bots. It also prevents them from going after other objectives.

It seems like the most effective strategy is to move as a large group rotating through the objectives.  A lot of players like myself just lone wolf it, because the rest of my squad is doing the same.

The transition in a game from bots to players needs to be managed better by the game.
