Linux is great, no denial of it (I am using it for some things, too), but let's face it - it's not the best system for gaming as it still is for a very minor group of players and so there aren't many natively supported games, because it's simply not worth it for developers/publishers. I wouldn't expect BF6 will be any different in that regard.

We aren't asking for native support, rather we are asking for developers EA specifically to not intentionally prohibit Linux users for working well supported work-arounds i.e. Wine and Proton to play their games. It is insulting and the reasons given are ridiculous.

Well, if there is some problem (like with the proper functionality of the anti-cheat solution, etc.), I am not surprised that they do not want to support it or deal with further issues there. They may not even test it on Linux (except a brief check) at all, because, you know, it's not a supported OS. Officially, many games do not support Linux and workarounds may or may not work for them. In case of BF6, the workarounds don't work, the official minimum requirements weren't met and that's it. I see no reason to be surprised or angry, it's always a lottery.

Well... yes and no.
There are still 35% using Win10 which is out of support just because they made the hardware requirement ridiculous and unnecessary high. A part of them won't or can't buy new hardware so they will switch to Linux or use the outdated windows 10.- Anaghya4 months agoSeasoned Ace
If they have hardware to meet the BF6's minimal requirements, they also met the Windows 11 hardware requirements. :)

No one is asking for native support, that's why WINE and Proton exist. It's kernel level anti-cheat that is the issue and companies like Easy Anti-Cheat have done amazing work for Linux. The development team do not need to do anything except implement a less invasive anti-cheat.

This hasn't been true for a while now. Windows is still built on Window NT 3.1, nothing runs well on Windows anymore. Proton on Wayland consistently see's an uptick in performance on almost every single game over running on Windows. Not to mention, anyone with half a brain is tired of Microsoft and will not be purchasing the next OS from them, as they have confirmed several times that it will be subscription based.
