Engagement distance feels mid
The range of engagements and the combat at range feels mid. Why? Cuz the 1st maps in the game were smaller than what we got in previous battlefield games, to appeal to more people, blah, blah, blah... The point is, the guns were tuned to fit those maps, and now that we're looking at peak big maps like recently added railway to Golmud, lotta guns seem like they ain't built to handle range engagements. Certain guns are better for long range than others for reasons that feel kinda wrong to me. Instead of people grabbing accurate, hard hitting rifles, they go for the weapons that have the lowest recoil to beam at long range in full auto. Feels kinda wrong to me. I feel like the sniping in the game is kinda of short ranged, with people just strafing around cover and flicking at 80 metres.
A gun like the M277, which description says that it is designed to overmatch at range, is itself overmatched a lot more by guns with less recoil at range. The damage for a carbine chambered in 6.8 seems real weak compared to the damage of a 5.56 weapon in the game. Especially cuz they both deal the same amount of damage, only with the m277 having a constant 4 tap up to roughly 80 metres. Only problem is the gun itself has pretty poor precision, meaning that lack of DMG fall off doesn't help much when the shots don't connect.
Just feel like tuning guns to be perform at longer ranges would be good, especially for the ones that should and don't and maybe to be better for future large maps or something.
