Feedback on Sniper Range Finder Balance

Currently, snipers can sit at extreme distances, use their range finder to zero in, and repeatedly take accurate shots with very little counterplay for those being targeted. Even with glint, the distance often makes it difficult to effectively return fire or close the gap.

I think a good balancing adjustment would be:

  • Range Finder Reset Under Suppression – If a sniper is taking fire (even if not directly hit), their range finder should lose its set zeroing. This forces them to re-measure before taking another accurate shot, adding a layer of risk when being engaged.
  • Why This Helps – It prevents snipers from endlessly “locking in” shots from extreme ranges while being almost untouchable. It would encourage snipers to reposition more often, reward coordinated suppression, and create more dynamic long-range engagements instead of one-sided situations.

This way, snipers still have their long-range advantage, but players being shot at have more meaningful counterplay beyond just hoping to land a lucky return shot.

This is some gameplay what do you think. OperatorDrewski Gameplay

  • This was easier than I expected it to be.

But because this is easy, it means that snipers on the receiving side can also return fire towards a nested sniper much more easily.

The ones most affected by an easy range finder and zeroing in, are the snipers themselves as they will be the favorite targets of other snipers.

  • I somewhat agree. I like that you are using suppression fire to be a deterrent to sniping but I don't want it to only work on snipers. Suppression fire should blur vision and increase sway, it would hinder everyone and counter snipers that are willing to trade a few shots for a head shot (players should try to avoid getting shot)

Ps range finder doesn't need to reset but I agree that it shouldn't be easy to snipe if your position has been blown. As a sniper I believe that we should make every shot count and a spotted sniper is a dead one (retreat and repositioning are viable tactics)

I think resetting zeroing will feel annoying for most players, and most likely it will be perceived as a bug (if you are not aware of the mechanic). It makes no logical sense that your zeroing of your scope is affected by suppression in my opinion.

I know this has been suggested by others before me, but I think the range finder attachment should only display the range to your target, and then you have to manually zero your scope.

THE FIX is to get rid of the auto Zero. It gets rid of any skill or intelligence needed to do long range sniping and most players wont actually use it because most of the time theyre engaging at only 100 meters. its a range finder, let it tell you the range to target, make an accurate scope that you can range with and leave it at that.

I agree remove it as someone who loves to snipe in battlefield I hate it being in game

  • what maps or modes are you guys playing to actually shoot someone so far away lol, its like a miracle to find many players more then a couple hundred meters from the objective on these maps.....I took off the rangefinder to use the points for other upgrades on my rifle.

  • Bring back old suppression which blurs vision to counter sniping or provide cover fire for allies but AoE should be smaller so its deliberate, health regen delay is rather pointless unless they can combo it as explosives suppression (delay health regen and block heal temporarily)

Range finder should give you distance and recon has to manually increase or decrease zeroing. Also remove the bind wich combos auto zeroing and ADS or make it so that you can't use the same key.
