Remove the rangefinder from the sniper.

I fee like rangefinder is a way of trying to balance snipers to become more useful, but it is taking away some interesting aspects of sniping. Let's be honest, most snipers that are trying to keep their distance and shoot from long range are going to be completely useless in the overall match, even if they have rangefinder for perfect zeroing. Yeah, they might get a couple of kills now and then, but they just wont help their team much. 

I think rangefinder has a place in this game, but they should rework the attachment so that it display the range to your target, and you have to manually adjust the zeroing of your scope. Then they should get rid of the "sweet spot" mechanic, and change snipers to have a higher body damage at closer range. Snipers should one shot kill to the torso up to around 30m. The damage drop off range could vary based on the sniper. Even then snipers would obviously be at a disadvantage at closer range, however it would be a bit more viable. Snipers should still one shot kill to the head at all ranges obviously.

I disagree. It is still way harder to hit a sniper headshot at long range with perfect zeroing, than to kill someone with an AR at medium range.. and the impact you have as a infantry using another weapon is usually way higher. 

I played BF 2142, BF 4, BF 5, and BF 2042 (and we could include the two open beta weekends of Battlefield 6).

Only in Battlefield 5 did I exclusively play Recon Sniper and the Krag 98 was my go-to weapon. It had manual zeroing out to 300 M,  and it worked beautifully. My sniper binoculars were my actual rangefinder and they worked beautifully.

With my binoculars I would "light up" my target, then instantly switch to my rifle and pull the trigger. Almost always on a stationary target (usually a sniper like myself or somebody taking cover) it was a headshot one-shot kill for which I would get bonus points approximately equal to taking one flag.

So, a sniper using a rangefinder is not a new concept in the Battlefield series, and, frankly, if you continuously play the Recon class you are probably missing most of the battlefield action.

Oh, and by the way, if a player is not crouched or prone when shooting and instead is standing upright and weaving back and forth you are not a sniper. You are a punk. ;-D

I get what you are saying about how satisfying it is when having to calculate range, look for bullet drop, etc.  Sadly, this is not it, its more like a cartoon shooter class.

Yeah, watching snipers weave back and forth standing upright and getting kills is silly.

I do agree range finder shouldn't set the range, just give you the distance so that player can manually change it.

They could also increase the cost for auto range finder and rechambering lever so that you can only install one or the other but not both.

There are other changes I can think of but I'll wait until they show the changes that are in progress.

SolisCorsier​  I get where you are coming from, however, remember not everyone that plays this game may be a hard core or really experienced player, so may genuinely need the extra help.

But like I said, I do kind of agree, but you have to allow for others too.

Remember, this is a video game designed for fun as well as a competitive game.

Perhaps in a Hard Core Mode this could be removed ?

Sniper is my go to option. Not a good class for scoring points and kills but lots of satisfaction for a 1 shot kill from long range. A range finder is part of the weapons kit, if you know how to use it (and it takes some practise) it works well. You should remember that in real life a sniper uses a "spotter" who calls out all the conditions for him so he can adjust. Range finders don't worry me a bit and if you are good enough to use them then so be it.

What annoys me more is getting killed from long range by an assault rifle or a LMG or, dare I say it, a hand gun (the guy said he had a 20 power scope attached). Or the guy jumping around all over the place and can still head shot you from 300+ yards.

No my friend, a range finder is not the problem.

True, the map designs are better this time around. I haven't seen maps that allows you to shoot across the map. There are areas you can snipe and areas that are not, you also get a break so long as you don't allow the enemy secure the area.

Elderwarrios you are right, recon isn't meant to be a K/D ratio unit or secure bases, unit is supposed to spot, harras, flank. Its engagement should be situational unlike assault. Quick rechambering was a bad addition in my opinion but I think class balance is just bad overall

Also got annoyed getting outsniped with other guns, you could do it with a pistol too but its dmg was bad so at least it gave you time to trade shots or hide. Really glad they are fixing this as it made no sense.

Or make rangefinder unlockable after completing some objective — like 100 longshot headshots, for example.

Eh the point system for attachments means that the rangefinder has an intrinsic cost. If you wanna have a more POWERFUL sniper then you gotta ditch it. If you want the convenience then great but that means you may lose out on suppressors or better scopes or bipods etc etc. 

It'll probably be fine and if absolute need be they can just up the point value of the attachment to make it more costly.
