Forcing PC to Crossplay
The devs have spoken loud and clear with this last update.
They are willing to sacrifice PC users enjoyment of the game, so that console players have more people to play with. But only when they choose.
If we don't have the ability to disable crossplay, and soon, I'll be cancelling my Play Pro subscription.
I enjoy playing with other people, but I would rather play with bots than being forced to play with console players while they have a massive advantage.
There is no setting, in game, to disable crossplay, but at least we had an alternative by manually adding 1 line to PROFSAVE_profile.
Now that they have removed that, we are stuck with playing with console players, and their exclusive access to a functional aim assist.
I connected my Playstation and Xbox controllers to my PC, to see what settings would be best for aim assist, and I really wasn't surprised to find out that those settings are pretty much decorative.
Sure, you can change them, but it has no effect in game.
Maxed out or completely disabled, I found no difference in gameplay regardless of the aim assist settings.
Aim assist doesn't just help people to lock on to a target, but by randomly sweeping the area it allows them to discover targets they don't even see.
And, console players aren't limited to just the traditional controller. They also have controllers that function like the original Wii remote, where you simply point and shoot. I would argue this is better than using a mouse, because it allows you to aim by pointing at the screen itself.
I am unsure if controller types are detected on consoles, but if they have aim assist with these types of controllers, this only makes it worse, and would explain a lot, with regards to my crossplay experience.
With just PC users, I can get in at least a couple kills or more before I die. And usually get as few as 15 per match. But when console players come in to the mix, I am lucky if I get 3 kills per match.
I'm basically just console target practice. I pay close attention to what the person who killed me is playing on, and it is almost exclusively console players. There's just no point in playing this game anymore.
