Because most of the time searching for herd ore puts you into a core lobby, with a hardcore logo next to the game mode, there's no friendly fire, no health reduction and full radar.
The search just lies to you.
because its not hardcore, EA's official hardcore server is just a normal server with hardcore in its name, yeah dont ask me wtf they are doing, nobody knows exactly
you need to join a community server to play real hardcore in this **bleep** game, choose hardcore/friendlyfire/lockedweapons/limitedhud in the filter, then you will get servers with the classic hardcore mode
