High ping problems need to be fixed

After A lot of times that we asked to fix portal and the pve/ solo they didn’t listen and they didn’t fix it , well at least fix the high ping problems that we could at least play the game smoothly.

  • In my opinion the absolute ping value isn't the main problem. What server you get and its associated ping is dependent on network load and what was available to give you.

The main problem is server ping variance and server frame time. If you get server frame time spikes, and server ping variance spikes, that feels awful. A constant 50 ping or constant 100 ping doesn't feel bad. But when you have a 30 ping with spikes of 150 or more, it feels awful.

The server frame time variance and server ping variance is directly related to server up time, from all my testing. That's why I always rehost an experience if I get a server with an up time of 80 hours or more. I try to settle for 24 hours of server up time or less. It plays butter smooth. The other server, with high up-time, plays like crap and never stops playing like crap.

I already posted this request to EA. I said empty servers with an up-time approaching 100 hours should always be rebooted on a schedule. If it was available for me to host it as a new server with 136 hours on the up-time clock, it was unused for some period of time in which it could have been rebooted. Do you think they care? I doubt it.

The only time we should have high up-time problems is when a server stays populated for days straight. Then it becomes an unavoidable problem. Otherwise, there is no excuse for being plagued with these performance issues.

Turn on the network bar. I bet you will see that as you are stuttering around the sky and lagging backwards and forward, the SFT (server frame time) number is way over the normal 15ms, and the ping variance value is high, and the server up-time says something like 96 hours. In my opinion, there is some server resource issue or memory leak that causes the server to chug when not recently rebooted, and that is why the ping spikes as it is waiting to respond.
