I had another post explaining the error but since then, I have seen a lot of people with commonalities to what appears to be inadvertent bans.
My account is 17 years old with no violations. This is wild to me.
So far, EA is not helping. If you can like this, it would help get a Community Manager to notice and help escalate this so that this doesn't happen to more people.
As it stands, for me, this was the course of events - this might also help find commonalities:
- Played Beta via Steam
- Bought game Saturday on Steam, played for 6/7 hours. I linked my discord. I was playing while in discord with a friend. for 5/6 of those hours, then campaign for the remainder. If it matters, I used the in-game XP bonuses. Otherwise I did pretty awful, ngl.
- Sunday, I went to login, and it said my account was disabled.
- Checked email - no email. Checked EA account, no messages. Checked violation history, no violations show.
- Tried to open a case, but could not - case wouldn't actually open, it would just send me to community support suggestions. No options for live chat or email support.
- Reviewed EA account again - downloaded my account info.
- Account info said I was banned for "account_abuse"
- I have EA app on laptop, but my Steam is linked on my main gaming PC. Battlefield is through Steam, so I am not sharing any game license, and it's only installed in one location.
- My account names are not against TOS - Mickey /mickeystix
- I do not interact with other players via VOIP, chat I only say "gg", and I do not grief.
- I do not cheat or use any glitches or exploits.
- I do not xp boost (besides the in-game bonuses) or anything like that.
- My K/D was under 1.00...I wasn't even playing well...
- Only recent change was linking discord - I use the same account name there.
- Researched others experiencing this.
- Added 2FA and changed password just in case that was the problem. This did nothing.
- Tried to unlink my account so that I could re-link and see if that would fix it, but I can't even unlink it with it being "disabled".
- I found out if I used incognito mode, and go through support as a guest, I actually got a link for live chat. So I did that. It was not helpful - they just told me to open a case (I did...which is how I was speaking to them...?)
- Opened an actual case for Appeal
- Received a canned "no" response, and oddly it stated it had been investigated twice.
- Received no information
- This was not appropriately addressed, otherwise I would not still be banned.
- This was not investigated twice. I don't honestly think it was "investigated" once...
- Now, again, I cannot even open cases...
I have seen other people have the reason "competitive_advantage" who describe a very similar situation.
What we're seeing is both support functions NOT working, and false bans, which means no recourse for those affected.
Worse, refunds seem to be hit or miss, and this happened for most people well past the allotted time for things like Steam refunds.
It would be great if others could comment their experience as well to help find what the issue is for us.
