You're not crazy and its most likely netcode or desync issues. I feel it's getting worse. I have a very similar visual problem that has a similar result. Someone will be shooting at me and they are shooting so wide that I think that they're shooting at someone else. Then, I get deleted in one frame when one of their bullets actually hits me. Same visual bug when I am in a vehicle. A rocket will go wide and I think, yeah that aint gonna hit me. Then, I get hit by it and it isn't from the AT4 guided launcher.

There are some advanced cheats that will tell the user that someone is aiming at them and how accurate that aim percentage is. This tells them to take cover. A spin bot or auto trigger will behave very erratic when it zeros in on you.

Some times I'll see players snap to me in mid mag dump or shooting while they're reloading. This was an early bug when people were seeing tracers come out from people that were actually shooting at them but their character model hadn't updated with the new direction yet, on the server. So you had the optic of someone shooting out of their side and not looking at you.

It really could be anything at this point since the hit registry, desync, and netcode are so unpredictable at the momemnt.

  • and we have the issues with roller players.  turning off crossplay would at least remove one variance from the trash experience being the desync aim assist less recoil and bloom that rollers get.

than we just have to ban PC players cheating the game in order to get the aissist that controllers get whilst still using mouse and keyboard.

game has a lot of very massive issues it still needs to contend with

    -desync issues with console/pc etc

-overall hit dedection/server stability which took a massive dump with the last patch

    -insanely fast time to death

-trash vehicle balance (they've been massively over buffed)

honestly this games got at least another year before its tolerable but most of the world will be playing gta6 by then.

Well, you may still be crazy, but yeah, it happens a lot. There are several issues where what you see on your screen is not the actual situation as stored on the server. Basically, you’re getting the information about what’s actually going on too late. One of the common ones is a player facing away from you on your screen, but they’re actually looking at you, or at least in the process of turning towards you.

Sometimes, they just switch to facing you instantly. Sometimes, their character never turns, but the red outline in the kill cam is indeed facing you. And yes, the whole things feels miserable and unfair.
