I wonder if that was me as I had been doing this exact same thing on that map, if your ingame name is papayyyyye ?
I got a headshot at 634m through black smoke I was using for cover & the enemy could definitely see my 5x scope glint.
I was zeroed at 100m and was using the scopes reticle for ranging, not the range finder, yuk.
I too had been wondering about the glint on 4x scope & below, so I tested it, I was using a 4x acog scope on a DMR & the enemy snipers could definitely see the glint on that.
Imagine if you had the sun to your back which eliminated glint, now that would be a great mechanic.
Also what about real world scopes that have a honeycomb anti-glare device (ARD) or "kill flash" to prevent light reflection., shouldn't that be a thing in the game too ?
I think what you are saying would be a good balance.
