What exactly is the middle ground?
If Quake is pure Arcade and Squad/ARMA is full milsim, then Battlefield is already somewhere in between.
Battlefield 6 has slower sprinting speed than previous Battlefield titles (aside from running with the knife). Battlefield 1, 5 and 2042 already had sliding. Battlefield 4 had corner jumping, Zouzou jumping etc. Battlefield 2/2142 had prone diving. Battlefield 2042 also had slide jumping that would maintain momentum.
Battlefield hasn't become significantly more arcade over the years. If anything, it's been pretty consistent, even if the movement techniques have changed over the years. Battlefield 1 was the only game that pretty much nerfed movement mechanics into the ground and that really sucked the skill out of movement.
