Mike Tyson the sniper

Why are snipers bobbing and weaving like Mike Tyson and nailing headshots at 200 m while standing and crouching up and down behind an object?

Has anyone at Dice ever shot a sniper rifle before? You cant do that.. its a, its not possible. Take the stupid glint away and make sniping hard and realistic like BF3.

Sniping is supposed to take skill remember?

You should really learn how to address the argument instead of attempting to blame a person for things that they didn't say.

No it hasn't. Battlefield was meant to be a tactical FPS and that's what it needs to return to being. Sounds like you're one of these twitchy run-and-gun kiddies that want every FPS to be CoD. Sniper rifles and DMRs need to have severe penalties to aiming if you are standing, especially if you are bouncing around like a meth head. It's a cheap tactic used by the unskilled.

There was never a built-in or enforced limit on the number of snipers, only on rented servers

  • I'd like to see sniping nerfed.  On some maps, it really difficult to move without getting sniped.

  • The poorest kind of argument you could make is pretty much the "It's not like real life" argument. It's not a realistic game and it's not trying to be a realistic game. It's an arcade game and Battlefield has always been an arcade game.

Battlefield 3 had scope glint and it's not realistic. The reason it was harder than in Battlefield 6 is because it had unrealistically low bullet velocity, which would produce pretty severe bullet drop at a decently realistic 9.81 m/s² (compared to 15 m/s² on most other guns). In Battlefield 6 you have almost double the velocity of Battlefield 3 (which is quite realistic) and you have a drag co-efficient that simulates air resistance, which slows down bullets over time, though that can be reduced quite a bit by using long-range ammo.

The reason they made snipers ADS quickly, is because they don't want snipers to only play Firestorm and sit on a mountain all day. The average engagement distance, even for snipers is well within the 125 meter range. That's why the sweet spot zones aren't at 200+ meters. If you'd make them ADS slowly, they couldn't ever play the objective because they wouldn't be able to respond in time. If all the maps in the game had 500+ meter sight lines, it'd be a different story.

I don't think snipers need attachments that reduce the drag co-efficient. They don't need the sweet spot mechanic. They don't need the range finder that immediately zeros the perfect range either. They could even tweak the bullet velocities to be closer to 700/800 instead of 1000+. There are plenty of ways to reasonably nerf them, without touching the things that allow them to be useful to the team.

Snipers are bobbing like Mike Tyson because DICE removed almost all the penalties that used to make sniping hard. Low sway, fast ADS, and the bullet velocities in BF6 all feel off and they even seem to change randomly. My M2010 ESR literally landed an 800m headshot instantly on Firestorm, no delay at all, as soon as the scope came off to reload, the guy was already dead.

It’s all “balanced” around scope glint and fast arcade movement instead of actual skill. If they want sniping to feel like BF3 again, they need to add real sway, punish movement and stance spam, fix the inconsistent velocities, and tone glint way down. With all the nerfs to guns, classes, and core mechanics, it feels like they’ve broken what Battlefield is supposed to feel like.

They aimed to be more like CoD and ended up with some weird, half-cooked AI slop that doesn’t feel like Battlefield or anything else.
