My thoughts and wishes about Battlefield 6
Hello, I've been playing Battlefield 6 for several hours almost every day since its release (currently 83 hours of playtime), in all the different modes, and here are my thoughts and comments on the game that I just wanted to share. By the way, I'm a Battlefield veteran since BF1942 and have played every game in the series.
Overall, I'm happy with the game; I enjoy it, and after the horrendous flop of Battlefield 2042, it's a welcome development.
Map Design:
I think the levels are really well done, but you can tell the maps are starting to look a bit similar, probably because they're all set in urban locations. A bit more variety would be really good, especially more maps in (more or less) authentic locations like Ballroom Blitz or Monte Grappa from BF1. The maps in BF1 were simply fantastic; they offered variety in both the scenery and gameplay, which made the immersion incredibly good. It would be desirable to see future maps that are more based on real-world locations and feature familiar landmarks, offering more variety such as forests or jungles, deserts, beaches, and much more. Changing weather would also be fantastic: fog, rain, or snow, or even better, a random hurricane, blizzard or sandstorm. These things were all present in previous Battlefield games – why not here again?
Progression:
I really enjoy completing missions and leveling up my weapons, etc., but in Battlefield 6, the mission progression is sometimes just frustrating. Yesterday, I managed to completely finish the Medic class specialization, and it drove me crazy. Leveling up weapons still takes a bit too long, although improvements have definitely been made in this area.
Color Filters:
Everyone has their own preferences here, but personally, I find the color filters, or rather, the color grading, awful. Depending on the map, it's either too cold (blue) or too warm (red/magenta). Why not simply add a toggle switch to the options menu to turn the color filter on or off? I loved the unadulterated look of Battlefield 1 and parts of Battlefield V. Please let the players decide how they want to experience the action on the maps.
Skins:
I'm completely disappointed here. I know you wanted and need to make money with skins. That's perfectly fine with me, and I would even buy some if they were nice. But please create skins that actually look military—now that the Battle Pass is available, some skins have been added that look simply awful. I've served in the military and seen real-world action, so I can judge this based on reality. Military uniforms don't have any neon colors; that's a terrible mistake on the real battlefield! There are no breath masks or other such things. With a few exceptions, many skins are simply ridiculous ugly, and completely unrealistic.
Gender:
I know everything has to be equal these days; that's the current trend. But if you look at the world's battlefields, it's almost exclusively men fighting there. Please, as a player, give me the choice of whether I want to play a female or male character. Currently, on the NATO side of the game, the only available character in the Medic class is female all of them... although some of them have their faces partially covered, so it's not immediately obvious. But when you're playing as that character, commands are given by a female voice. Perhaps I'm just being too sensitive, but please let me choose whether I want to be female or male, regardless of the class. For me, it simply breaks the immersion and doesn't reflect reality.
I know Battlefield 6 isn't a military simulation, that's not its goal, and that's not what I want. But immersion is still important to me and many others. I want to be drawn into the world I'm moving through.
