My pet theory is that what tanks lost from their glory days in BF3 to BF1 is mobility.

It was a lot easier during these times to quickly roll the tank in the objective, do damage and if things seem difficult to try to escape as fast as possible. I the "pro" tankers would also try to move up and down instead of staying still to make themselves a bit harder to aim at.

Meanwhile it became harder and harder to reposition a tank that is standing still because acceleration is so much slower + 3rd person being less usable than in the older times.

You could take away all the buffs on the thermal smoke + unnerf the RPG rear damage while giving tanks their BF3-4 mobility and the tanks would have been in a better spot.

PS: During BF1, I got so mad at someone who took one of the tank slots to farm kills from the spawn, that I took another tank and used it to ram the camper off the cliffside.

this is what I am trying to explain in as many people as possible. There is great power in working in tandem with launchers. There is no tanker who will not get a panic if at least 2 engineers operate that way.

It is too hardcore to expect for the team to have teamwork. I wish I was sarcastic, but this is my BF experience since BF3 and after.
Without regen, it can quickly turn into a zombie survival horror game for the tank user.
This is something I recorded in the BFV days. I added a creepy music, zombie sounds and a grey filter to make the point clearer. Many horribly played AT soldiers adding up the damage and me having only the supply station and the manual serlf repair that prevents fighting to rely on.

The true anti tank meta is just 2 engineers working together firing in tandem.

Yes, in principle. Alas, we've seen the result: tank players who took very little risks because they weren't sure if they could count on their team. And to be honest, while I have no problems spending time repairing a tank during a fight, I'm not keen having to be in one for minutes on end as it travels from place to place.

I also don't have problems with tanks running away. In fact I find it refreshing: the do-or-die attitude for everything is not that interesting. Pushing a tank back once, twice, fighting to keep a point without the immediate resolution of "it's dead, we're good" is something I find interesting. 

There's probably a better balance where the tank can autoregen, but still need engineers when in a fight. Right now, I'd say the autoregen is too strong and the repair tool too weak, but I'd say it's a question of tuning, not fundamentals.

This is the most frustrating part of the M136AT. It launches weird...almost like it launches below where you aim, making hitting heli's that are flying low/close a pain to aim correctly, and if they are far away you have no idea if you missed or not lol.

It's definitely a chore to use against heli's, but its better than the frustration of lock ons.

People heavily underrate the acoustic mines. Been using them since season 1 lol. Sneak up on a tank, plop the mine down, blast them in the back with a rocket and the mine launches when they panic and drive off.

The guided missiles take some practice, but when you get the feel of it they are fantastic. Still hard even once you get the hang of it, but totally worth it.

In the end, I preferred switching the MBT LAW for the RPG just because it's a more flexible tool. But I confirm the acoustic mine is the best mine right now. With everything getting highlighted, you don't catch tanks rolling on mines anymore, and the acoustic mine is the one when tank hunting.

Of note, if you can get behind, one acoustic mine and two shots in the back will kill a tank solo: that is still very doable in the right situation.
