SBMM in Gauntlet

Was loving Gauntlet for awhile as a break from the BR, but just noticed this mode has some pretty heavy SBMM. While I was having fun for awhile, I don't plan on going back. I have to utterly tryhard every match, when for the first 10-15 games I didn't have to do that. It's not just that I'm ranking up so I'm being put with higher ranks, I'm now a level 12 playing with almost exclusively 44s and above. I even played on my GF's console on a fresh download and I was doing pretty good even with a controller, only to come home and get stomped again. A google search shows (with the admittedly bad AI answer) that BF6 Gauntlet mode does have SBMM, so it's either making it up or pulling it from sources we can't access. So why lie about SBMM?
