So “Preferred Crossplay” was a lie?

Quoting Alexia Christofi

”Eyy not quite, it's crossplay on or off - but if crossplay is on we treat it as console preferred crossplay, so we'll try and matchmake you with others playing on console before falling back to full crossplay if we can't find you a match with only/mostly console players.”

This from my experience is a complete lie and the matchmaking has been the exact same matchmaking that 2042 has for console players.

Currently with crossplay on, on my PS5 the matchmaking system just throws in whoever it wants, it’s not “falling back” on anything and it’s not prioritising matchmaking console players together first.

The majority of the time I’m being used as filler for PC majority servers.

EA can we get clarification on this?

Thanks.

  • I don't get why, if this game is soooo successful would we need cross play anyway? Ok obviously Xbox and PS can play together, makes sense, but why if there are so many people playing the game does the mess and hassle of pc and console cross play even needed and worth the effort RE balancing

PC players have a big advantage over control pad players in battlefield games.  Players like me who have experience of both know this, so nothing you wrote applies to Battlefield.

Yeah, it'd be great if they at least acknowledged that it's not working as intended and they're looking at it, but perhaps this is exactly how it was intended? Maybe if we all start posting a daily pic of the scoreboard showing the utter lack of a 'preferred crossplay' it'd call some attention to this game breaking issue. I play with a full squad on both xbox and PS5, and it's at the point where we're actually surprised when we get a lobby with even 30% console players.

NinjapenuinK I think it's because cheating is so rampant on PC shooters that they hoped they could lessen the impact of cheaters by having a larger pool of players by forcing crossplay. It sucks.

I can't speak for everyone,  but I for one wouldn't mind waiting a minute or two for a game to populate if it meant the lobby was actually prioritizing console players as advertised. I live in the same region as NYC/Toronto/Montreal, all huge population cities, and I'm supposed to believe that on a weekend there aren't enough console players to make ONE lobby? C'mon effin' guy.  If they give us console only crossplay, I swear I will buy every skin, camo or gizmo they put for sale in the store, ha.

Lo and behold, the patch did literally nothing to implement preferred crossplay as it was sold to us. It's still non-existent.

Two console players visible on the enemy scoreboard,  and there were a couple of more if you scrolled down. We had ten total on our team. How is 50 PC players and 14 console players "preferred crossplay"? Never worked in Beta or now. Would love Dice to acknowledge this issue. Anyone read anything about them addressing it?

The game's a month old and we're getting huge bot lobbies if crossplay is turned off, and mostly PC players if it's turned on. It's like they moved the bots from Portal into the crossplay-off space.
