Support Specialist 1 projectile intercept not tracking progress?

Hello, I have been running into an ongoing issue where the projectile Interception part of this challenge only works sometimes. I'll see the score for interceptions telling me they were intercepted only for the progress bar to stay grey. Is there something I'm not doing right or is it bugged?
