The visibility in this game is a massive step back from BF1

I’ve been playing a lot lately, and I honestly think the biggest thing holding this game back right now is the color grading. It feels like I’m fighting the lighting more than the actual enemy team.

Is it just me, or is it impossible to see anyone the second they step into a shadow? I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been beamed by someone sitting in a bush or a dark corner that I checked twice, but they just didn’t "pop" from the background at all.

It’s frustrating because we know this studio can do better. Look at Battlefield 1—that game is years old, but it still looks miles better than what we have now. It was immersive and cinematic, but you could actually see what was going on. It ran like a dream, too.

I just watched a video that nails this perfectly https://youtu.be/JIJYzFEITX8

This guy breaks down exactly why the current look of the game is hurting the experience. I really hope the devs take a look at this. Making the game "pretty" shouldn't mean making it unplayable. We need better contrast and cleaner visuals so we can actually get back to enjoying the gameplay.

I personally love that you can actually hide, without being spotted constantly by everyone everywhere.  It's actually refreshing that shadows & bushes actually work.

It definitely makes a massive difference. I'm running it on the L85A3 and KTS100, and it's amazing how much easier it is to see enemies. Killing them is another matter, but at least I see them 😄

Sorry to break it to you but every single part of this game is a step back from BF1, it was a pre micro-transaction era masterpiece.

I also don't think they will be able to match the level of battlefield 1 since the whole team that created that masterpiece left the company and created Arc Raiders. Maybe a skill issue.

  • I'm guessing each new game has either a new lead dev or most of the team changes. BF1 was a great game, and all they had to do for BFV was basically use BF1 as a base, tweak a few things and reskin the soldiers. They didn't do that so the open goal, slam dunk of a WW2 Battlefield which should have been amazing was just 'OK' at best.   How many times is bunny hopping/knee sliding having to be redone because "it's not working as intended" when the previous game(s) had the same issues and were eventually fixed. Rinse and repeat. We obviously don't want to continually have to pay too dollar for a reskin game ala FIFA but no need to start from scratch and make the same mistakes again either
