Yes, we are all going to have our opinions on this. Mine, as someone I consider a super casual gamer, is that I should be able to create portal with bots and get weapon XP. I will take the time to level my weapons, but I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to do that in a bot lobby, if I wish.
What I find super annoying is having to wait for a game to start because there aren't enough players. I have sat on that ready screen with three other players almost 10 minutes waiting for a game to start as we wait for other players to join. I've been playing King of the Hill/Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch using small maps and I still have to wait. I find that a little ridiculous--if I have a limited time to play, I don't need to spend that time waiting for a lobby to fill. With that new Casual Breakthrough, why not just start start it on a timer using the players who are in the lobby? When I think about playing the game, I always consider the frustration of having to wait for the game to actually start. EA is wasting my time when it comes to that.
That's why a portal system with weapon XP would be a better way to play for me.
