Week 2 of the beta was enough for me to cancel my pre-order
It makes absolutely no sense that features we’ve had in previous Battlefield games are missing from this one. You keep recycling the same maps. You said week one would be small maps and week two would bring large maps, yet I still haven’t seen a single truly large map. If you can run between points on foot, the map isn’t large. It’s been over a week since the start—have there really been zero fixes? What’s the point of this beta? Just a stress test for your servers?
There are no persistent servers. Why do I have to wait a couple of minutes after every match just to be placed in a “new server”? People used to complain about Battlelog, but looking back, it was a blessing—you could set exactly what you wanted to play and just play it. I want to play no-sniper Rush, but apparently spending $100 on the game isn’t enough. It feels like the devs need eight months of meetings to decide if that’s even allowed.
If everyone can use every weapon, then what’s the point of having a class system? The whole point of choosing a class is for its unique abilities and weapons. In a Battlefield game that’s supposed to be completely objective-focused, making something this simple into a debate—and doing so even after you tried the opposite in a previous game and got massive backlash—still makes no sense. Yet you keep forcing it.
And then you say, just to impress everyone, “Oh, we’re adding a separate mode with class-locked weapons and we’ll see which is more popular after the beta,” but even then, you only let us play it in the maps and modes you choose. Who exactly do you think you are?
I get that this is a beta, but why is my party in the same squad one game and in different squads the next? Do we really need a beta to figure out something that basic? We’ve given anti-cheat every possible permission, yet cheaters are still in the game. Ban 500,000 players if you want, but if there’s a cheater in my match—and they’re uploading videos on day one—you’ve failed in my book.
And the splash damage bug is still here, even after last week. Fire an RPG into a group of three people and all you get is 15 suppression points. No kills. The fact that this still isn’t fixed is honestly disappointing.
On top of that, your announcements never give clear, definitive answers. It’s always vague statements and deflections. Because of everything I’ve listed above, I’ve lost hope for the future of this game. I know I shouldn’t have pre-ordered in the first place, but I’m a long-time Battlefield fan, and I wanted to give it a chance. Thankfully I bought it on Steam, so I can easily refund it. From now on, I don’t think I’ll be taking EA, DICE, or “Battlefield Studios” at their word—I’ll believe it when I see it.
What’s so hard about this? Just give people the choice, and let them play however they want. What’s it to you? You’ve already taken our money.
