When will the flash hider actually eliminate muzzle flash?

Right now the flash hider only removes spotting markers, but the actual muzzle flash in-game hasn’t been reduced at all. When will this attachment finally fulfill its proper function?

Is this an intentional choice from the dev team, or just an issue that hasn’t been properly addressed?
